Seems they want formulaic answers...
How many wins/pts/podiums/trophies am i guaranteed per $ spent?
So... if we spend a lot of money, and we work hard, and get good drivers. Will we win?
What if... our competition beats us? how much do we need to beat them back?

Sorry folks, there's no guarantees in F1.

Or maybe they are still unsure because of the changing regs? who knows in a yr or 2 regs (specially engines) will be a bit more clear and it will be easier to make long term plans/investments and speculations... in the meantime, the russians and indians are diving in, by the time Porsche decides they might be racing behind the Ladas or Tatas ;)

Seem's, and that's only an outsider's view, they are brazenly expecting too be a front running team right off the bat, I thought they were smarter than that??

It's the Teutonic mindset, and you gotta give it to them, as uninspired as it may seem at times, it tends to get results.

Tatas ;)

I best this whole post was an elaborate scheme just so you could write that.

haha i think that's what Porsche is debating...
what if... we end up behind a Tata??
D' you think it would damage our reputation? :scratchchin:

That's the thing with F1, its all so close in the end it seems the things that are making the difference are uncontrolled events...

Damage their reputation? You mean more than building minivans? Uh, I mean SUV's.

They haven't been the same company since they sold out and started building those boxes on wheels. Le Mans makes more sense for Porsche. They will get eaten alive in F1 for the foreseeable future.

I'm unsure if that intention was intended by Porsche yet it also makes me think about "not trying is worse than loosing". I'm sure we all would like to see them return, I know I would, but excuse's are like arsehole's right!

I like the Panamera :hiding:
But the Cayenne is terrible...

That's what i think as well. Comparing investment : success Le mans makes much more sense to them right now. (at best they'll get beaten by a Merc, at worst... Tata!)

Don't think their decision makers are going by a "not trying is worse than losing" approach... for sure to them nothing is worse than losing money.
Ah wait.. losing money + damaging their winning reputation chasing a Lada... now that's a beating. :hehe:

I dont know, Porsche just doesnt seem to fit with F1, same with audi. I think of them as beauty in car style where as the volkswagen Groups other brands Lamborghini and Bugatti I think of power and speed appeal which would go well with F1 :)

Seat and Skoda are a no...

I just don't believe they are that company anymore. They moved away from it. The focus is no longer on being a racing car manufacturer that sells street cars to fund their racing or get a car homologated.. Don't get me wrong, I race one but they are not the company they once were. Stand in the pitlane of Sebring and look up to see all of those years where Porsche won the 12 hour....those days are over. Perhaps they can be brought back...but F1 is not the place to do so in my opinion. Porsche gained their fame through rally and road racing.....sportscars. LeMans was their crown jewel.....and could be again but F1 is in my opinion outside of their grasp. Sure, they could be an engine manufacturer far cheaper than fielding a car...but I would rather see a factory LeMans effort like the good old days.

VW group don't need to enter the Porsche brand, they have their own winning car. It's unbeatable!

The likeliest route for their entry and a return on investment would be VW as an engine supplier. With the 1.6T they can at least parlay some that into GTI and Scirocco sales numbers.
