Hello all,

Im new to this site but have posted highly regarded posts on other f1 forums before.

2011 is looking to be an interesting year but will Fernando Alonso Diaz be able to get his 3rd crown and another ace on his Helmet? He will be up against stiff oposition from the likes of Jenson Button MBE and Michael schumacher as well as Defending world champion Vettel. Fernando is widely regarded to be the most complete driver on the grid so I would expect him to get up to speed with the new rules faster than his rivals. Interesting year indeed.

discuss, Pole vault, javalin

I'm not sure why you say he'll be up to speed faster than her rivals, as it will be a pretty level playing field for the usual contenders. Like always it's going to boil down to who can bring the best car to the grid and which of the top drivers will be the most consistent in the points. Every contender and a couple of dark horses will be taking the exact same approach to the beginning of the season.

I have to disagree with you as I belive the drivers can add a lot more to a car. The proof is in the difference between team mates and also Alonso nearly won it in 2010 in the 3rd best car compared to a very good driver and former Title contender (and equal to Hamilton) Fillipe Massa coming 6th.

If Ferrari bring a good car to the races from the start of the season; Alonso has a very good chance of winning the title but it will not be straight forward, Alonso was only in contention for the title going to Abu Dhabi because Red Bull dropped the ball and kept on making mistakes, one of their drivers should have had the title sown up way before Abu Dhabi. Bottom line is that Ferrari have to provide Alonso with a good race car, a driver does make a difference but not a big enough difference to turn a slow car into a race winning car and there are also some very good drivers he has to beat, Hamilton, Schumacher, Rosberg, Vettel, Webber and Button, all in top cars!

I'm comparing between the top 5 or 6 drivers... and between those drivers, there's hardly 2 tenths difference all thing being equal. Where the car will vary much more, so although the driver makes a difference, a driver will not make up a 7 or 8 tenths of a second difference between cars.

why fernandos year as though hes entitled to it btw, considering hes a two time champ already surely kubicas, rosbergs or hamiltons given since 2008 it hasnt played to him. i got a little throw uppy at 4/5 months of alonso keening in 2010, id rather 2011 at least started with a focus on our new champ, or an old champ...

I don't see how it implies entitlement, I doubt the OP is suggesting the year 2011 will actually become the property of Fernando, the OP is mainly suggesting he'll do well this year rather that it should go to him
