There is a big difference between $10 and $36 million, for two teams that didn’t scored a single point. It may be, the difference between viability and disappearance.

but does it mean that now they are out of it, they get no money?

Maybe the membership just gives them a vote, but does not affect how the money is divided. You'd think, given the somewhat valid pov that non scoring teams should split the remaining money evenly, that they'd spend the 100k to cast whatever votes they could towards their favor.

If the 10th placed team is making 36 Million, what's the top team bringing in? :yikes:

Well FOTA does stand for Formula One Teams Association, it would be wrong for them to be in there in the first place!

To be honest I think that Colin Kolles makes some valid points; FOTA is set-up and run by the top teams, Ferrari, McLaren etc, so Kolles statement would make perfect sense and I think 100,000 Euro's is excessive for new teams, that's a lot of money to find when you're struggling to put two cars on the grid, that 100k could be better spent!

100k spent now could mean that you could get a few million later on.

How strong is FOTA without all the teams in it? then again a racing series with only HRT's in it could be exciting. Maybe there is more to the story, maybe Bernie has asked them to leave FOTA in return for a couple of quid

Not if as Colin Kolles claims, FOTA is self serving organisation for the powerful teams; I don't believe that all teams are equal in FOTA, I've always believed that is the case and this report goes some way to confirm that. If it was a true Formula One Teams Assoc. we'd have all teams as members without cost.

100k isn't that much or rather, shouldn't be that much for any F1 team big or small.

I seriously doubt HRT will make the grid, if they do. It won't be for long.

MasterCard Lola anyone?

I sincerely doubt FOTA will lose too much sleep over it. HRT isn't exactly the most stable or powerful outfit out there

lets hope when HRT goes undertray up that it does not mess Williams up with the gearbox deal.
