With a little mini break coming up, BMW must make a quick decision on Nick or they will look stupid loosing him to any other team like Toyota. Its not secret that Nick wants to stay with BMW instead of going to a less competitive team (Toyota), but when you feel like you are not wanted and someone is dangling a fat check in front of you, you may just want to leave. Nick has proven reliabled throughout his career, he gave Kimi a hard time as his teammate at Sauber, he proved that Webber is nothing more then a #2 driver at Williams, even making a spectacular pass on him in Monaco few years ago. He's been consistent all year, the 07 BMWSauber chassis and Bridgestone tires is best suited for his driving style while Kubica is having difficulty learning the new setup. Nick isn't a prima-dona, he doesn't want the spotlight, he just wants to race whereas Kubica is shooting his mouth off and blaming his poor performances on the team and its strategy. Mario Theissen was quoted saying "Nick is the only driver in the top 5 that can overtake a car in front of him". BMW and Heidfeld will be the wild-card in the the championship race, he will no doubt take some points away from the top 4 drivers and he will be a thorn in the Evil Empire (Ron Dennis) The man is underated, better sign him now before all teams discovers his rare talent.

He was my driver of the day in Bahrain, awesome move on Alonso...I think had he had the machinery Alonso had, he'd have been champion ages ago. However, saying that, so would Raikkonen et al.

Well, the car has improved more than Nick - they can get any driv.er for next year now and there are a few who are better than Nick.

I am not saying that it would be wrong for them to keep Nick, but they are not under pressure, they have no hurry.

I am not so sure if Nick could get a decent drive next year if BMW don't sign him

MT (I think it was him) said that NH is the only top 5 driver who can pass a car - that's either a big compliment for Nick or a big wet towel in the face of the other 4 drivers :twisted:8)

Nick is in the top 5 driver currently. Massa, Kimi, Hamilton, and Alonso are all SIGNED and under contract for next year. So who will be better suited for the 2008 BMW Sauber package?? Ralf??, Rubens??, Fisi?? BMW's goal for 2008 is the World Championship, they will be smart to have an experienced veteran driver that knows that chassis inside and out, and the chassis fits his driving style. Sebastian has a big ? on him, do you want to put a rookie on a team that's pushing for the Championship?? McLaren can do it because they have a 2 time World Champion on their team, plus Hamilton isn't really a rookie, this will not work for BMW since Sebastion hasn't proved he can drive the current car. That leaves a bunch of availabled average drivers available for the 2008 roster, who would you sign to replace a provened Heidfeld?? Ralf, Rubens, Fisi, Sato, KOVALAINEN, Webber, Trulli?? BTW, Haug was quoted today saying that BMW will win some poduims this year and they need to keep an eye on Heidfeld.
