I had some "sales people" come to my door this morning, and being the polite texan i am told them i am not interested in religion and to have a good day. But they persisted to ask "what could we do to persuade you?" "Is your non interest because of who we represent?" "Can we do anything...take out your trash?"

I have nothing against religous people, but just give me a pamplette dont question me

I am not going to say the religion because i dont want to start a debate about it.

BTW: i know everyones believe system on this forum "The good book of Burnie"

I'm a Jehovah's Witness and I find this video narrow minded to say the least, even though it's directed at Mormons. The Mormons do not base a lot of what they believe on the Bible, so I'm in no means supporting them.

Jesus gave his followers the commission to preach from house to house and village to village and search out the honest-hearted individuals. Through out the whole Gospel accounts he preached at every opportunity he had.

Many Atheists throw drivel at me such as what this guy said - stating what they feel is fact, despite never reading the Bible (quite obvious in this video), and yet claiming to be factually minded individuals. Many of these people base their facts on heresay, which are often often false rumours.

The theory of evolution, in my opinion, is a means to excuse one's self for not wanted to believe they owe any Creator anything. It gives them an excuse to live their life free of consequence. Unfortunately it also means they do not have a positive outlook on life. They believe stuff happens, then we die. They have no hope for a positive future.

And the Bible explains why God has allowed suffering to continue, and why he will soon step in and solve it, the Bible has answers to everything. Contrary to popular belief it is not contradictory, if you read it front to end it makes perfect sense, Genesis harmonises with Revelation etc. As it has answers to everyday problems and gives everyone the hope for a positive future, I am moved to share this with everyone and I offer those I meet a study of the Bible to come up with their own decision.

And I knock on people's doors on a Saturday and Sunday, because, contrary to popular belief - I am not paid to do this - I do it on my own free will, and I have to work a full-time job to pay the bills.

EDIT: I won't say anything else on this thread. PM me if you have any questions. You may carry on talking about the video. :P

I have faith and believe in God, 99.99% of the time :hehe: , but one's faith/religious beliefs should not be forced upon anyone just as one's political view's should not be. It makes me bonkers!!

The idea of religion in my opinion is to give irresponsible human beings a means of cleansing their "sins" ... for a small fee every weekend. It allows them to blame the devil for all of their shortcomings and keeps them from having to take responsibility for their actions. Therefore, WHAT I BELIEVE is that living my life being a good neighbor, a good father, a good husband and a good citizen simply because... not because I fear eternal damnation or any sort, frees me and forces me to accept responsibility for all of my actions.

I've never once forced those opinions of mine onto anyone else. I don't think you're going to burn in hell, yet you pity me because I don't understand and I'm not as enlightened as you, and I will surely burn in hell for all eternity.

I'm completely happy with live and let live, as long as anyone is not breaking the law, they're free to do as they wish. Most Muslim and Judeo/Christian based religions are not ok with live an let live.

I know I said I wouldn't post again here, but I've been holding in my religious talk for over a year now. :wavey:

See, once again, the Bible does not speak of eternal damnation. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 says that "As for the living they are conscious that the will die, but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all." And Ezekiel 18 says that the soul that is sinning, it itself shall die.

So rather than supporting the idea that God will eternally punish his creation, it says quite the opposite. A lot of what Christianity teaches is not based on the Bible but on their own "apostolic traditional" interpretation.

And it's all well and good to focus on being a good neighbour and family member etc. It's all in the Bible and most of it is pretty common sense.

I preach, not because I enjoy annoying people - but because I believe this is the Truth and a lot of people are suffering today without knowing the way out.

You're exactly right. Because a lot of it is drivel and not in harmony with what the Bible teaches. And I do respect opinions of other people. The guy in this video said that the Bible does not talk about preaching, but yet it does - it was perhaps Jesus' greatest commission.

Maybe I should have watched what I said about my opinion on evolution. That is my heresay and I came across as an extremist. :P

Not a good way to begin a rebuttal, if you say something, people tend to take you at your word, a soon as there is contradiction, there begins to be doubt about convictions and intent.

See, once again, the Bible does not speak of eternal damnation. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 says that "As for the living they are conscious that the will die, but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all." And Ezekiel 18 says that the soul that is sinning, it itself shall die.

Mark 9:43-48: And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched." The reference to fire is repeated three more times in the passage for emphasis.

Revelation 14:11: " And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night..."

So you see for every verse you quote in the bible there's a handful of others that are inconsistent or contradictory with it. I can go on, but the point here is that it's all open to interpretation... you're free to believe what you will, and so am I. But your beliefs impact me because you're unwilling to accept a live and let live philosophy. If you're right, you have nothing to fear if you're wrong then there's been quite a bit of misplaced effort.

So go forth and continue to grow the corporation's market penetration, but you have to be willing to accept others annoyance of your intrusion into their lives, which is the point of the video you're failing to acknowledge.

I preach, not because I enjoy annoying people - but because I believe this is the Truth and a lot of people are suffering today without knowing the way out.

And as such you're willing to disregard other people's beliefs and ideals because you know better.

Now, I've said all I needed to, and I won't post again on this thread  because I tend to mean what I say on the topic.

I know this belief is not intended as being offensive, but really it is a pretty condescending thing to do.

I don't go to churches on sunday mornings and tell people they have fallen victim to the manipulative and clever trap of organised religion, even though i think that is the case.

You've thrown yourself to the sharks on this one Azza, it's never going to end. :hehe::P

Religion, a form of control and power so strong that even parents condition their own children without question and which is based on ancient ideas to explain the world around us through ignorance is one of the biggest hurdles facing mankind in the 21st century.

Just my opinion.
