He apparently is unaware that teams routinely pass coded messages to their drivers concerning fuel mixture, rev limiter and other systems settings.

Coded team orders will not be tolerated - Todt

Since the FIA already have given its blessing to the use of coded messages, how are they to distinguish "good" coded messages from "bad" ones? Will the FIA open its own Bletchley Park?

You had me worried there, but, it turns out he's actually being pretty damn clever. He's actually hinting that the FIA will be allowing team orders overtly, they just don't want the lying/ secrecy problem which causes most of the bad press.

Instead of banning team orders and having teams operate them in secrecy (current situation) it seems more of a move "back to the old days". What I've been arguing for, and had hoped Todt will get round to. He actually understands how f1 teams work, but is also canny enough to know how to regulate it and come to the best compromise between the teams interests and the fans interests.

Here's some interesting (but pretty much unrelated info)
"I shouldn't have had to say anything," Todt said this week. "We had agreed beforehand that if he [Barrichello] is in front after the pitstop, he was to let Schumacher pass without making a fuss. It was agreed, and drivers are paid to accept certain decisions. But he made me call him 50 times and he moved at the last corner - the audience booed, Schumacher gave him first place on the podium and Ferrari was fined $500,000 for violating protocol."

Asked if he regrets the affair, he admitted: "Yes, because with hindsight it could have been avoided. Schumacher would have won the championship anyway. But I would have regretted even more if we had lost the title by a couple of points."

Team orders shouldn't be allowed coded or uncoded unless the driver being asked to concede the place is mathematically out of the title hunt, thats what we were all told, but they nearly messed up the whole championship by letting Ferrari get away with it long before that, its like my mate who has only started watching F1 this year with me said when we thought alonso was gonna win it "The first year i watch it and he's gonna win it with dirty points" witch I agree with 100% tbh, luckily Seb won it and saved the day

From the regulations? Team orders were banned even if one driver was out of the championship mathematically. And it hasn't always been that way.

You can't enforce team orders covertly, its like prohibition, if the teams want to use team orders, their smart enough to find ways to use them.

They were banned yes, but the FIA 'turned a blind eye' as Ive said before, so long as it was at the season close. This precedent was set when Massa let Kimi through in 2007. Had he not done this Lewis would have won the championship in his rookie year. Do i have a problrm with this? No. Even though it robbed Lewis. Massa was out ,so helping Kimi at the end of the season was fine. FIA are obviosly happy with this and have said so....despite banned team orders that manipulate results. Why do you find this distinction so difficult to understand? Screwing a team mate in favour of a prima donna, as opposed to helping a team mate when you yourself can no longer win.

WTF are you on about now????? I was agreeing with the massa/Kimi switch that stopped lewis winning? Can you not read? Or is your hatred of Lewis so great that you only have to see his name and go off on one??
#226436
What I'm 'on about' is bringing Lewis once again into the fray, can't you just 'generalise' your comments without spoiling another thread that will eventually become just another Lewis topic?
