An early morning rant, why are they even in F1 at the moment? The team, like many others, is run like a business, but the Woking based squad seems to have taken that to new levels this season. There's no passion, drivers aren't allowed to race each other, races are 'managed' and once again, they use a slower second car to attempt to secure victory, ruining what could be a very interesting race.

At least Ferrari have passion...

Why was Hamilton running ahead of Alonso for most of the race in Melbourne then? McLaren have never believed in team orders, a good example of this was in Belgium in 1999 when Hakkinen was challenging Irvine for the Championship, Coulthard got ahead of Hakkinen at the start and just coasted off into the distance without McLaren getting involved. Simple as.

Ferrari have liked using their No. 1 driver status thing ever since Prost came in for 1990 and made Mansell effectively the number 2 driver. Infact in one race Mansell managed to get his car set up better than Prost's, so sneakily Prost told the team to switch the cars around so he effectively ended up driving Mansell's and Mansell got Prost's poorly set up car.

Since when do you have to supply your own engines in F1 ? That's the point with non-factory teams or do you want a pure 100% factory series ?

its pathetic you fool. i agree with stephen, while hamilton ran ahead of alonso at australia they werent allowed to race. in fact in one interview i read the only people competiting were their mechanics.

Since when do you have to supply your own engines in F1 ? That's the point with non-factory teams or do you want a pure 100% factory series ?

I think it was meant more like: Ferrari can do both, chassis and engine and they are the only team who's done so throughout their long history in F1 - chapeau!
It's somewhat like Apple compared to Dell and the other windoze makers. Apple does it all (hardware, OS) whereas on the other side of Styx, everybody cobbles together hardware and some version of OS and their customers wonder why it's not true plug and play (or they don't wonder because they've never tried a Mac and don't even know how it COULD and SHOULD be plug and play)

Lol! I stand by what I said, as you know I've supported that team for years, but i've just grown tired of them and their tactics. I'm fed up with hearing 'controlled' and 'conservative' used by both Dennis and Whitmarsh to describe a race and hate how they turn drivers in advertising strewn clones. The cheap jibes toward Ferrari and the Dennis's body language toward Raikkonen at the Malaysian GP were immature and in my mind, complete unnecessary, and left me as a fan, utterly frustrated at the team.

F1 should be about racing, with passion, and that's why I made my point.

Stevie, you've finally seen the light! Those are all reasons for me to not root for McLaren. I don't hate them or disrespect them, but I just don't get that warm and fuzzy feeling with them that I'd get with Ferrari or BMW Sauber or even Red Bull and Renault (formerly Benetton) ffs.

Mclaren did race they won the race fair and square you can think lewis was blocking Ferrari all you like or you can take into account his balance issue which was fixed after his first stint by taking out some front wing which he then set the fastest lap and caught up to fernando before the last stint. Lewis will win a race this year even at the detrament to Fernando. something thats un heard of at Ferrari so please dont even go there with this!!!! i just think its funny how Kimi fans are giving McLaren s*** now that they have won a race. sour grapes?

What? Ron Dennis doesn't let his drivers race each other? You don't understand Ron Dennis's whole philosophy at McLaren. But neither do for that matter. I do know that I get the Racing Line magazine and am pretty sure he requests the sizes to be changed for his own certain reasons. I see him in pictures measuring the magazine, and notice the sizes change through the year, yes how odd indeed. Anyway, if there was no passion and if Ron Dennis didn't let his drivers race each other then how did the rookie overtake the World champion in Melbourne? Was certainly not team orders.

Im with you Bud! People seem to have very short term memories on here.....have we never seen Ferrari holding up other drivers on track? What about the time Barrichello was ordered to move over to let MS pass?
I think its nice that a team like McLaren nurture a young driver from a very young age and bring him on through their own factory system - and they then have faith in him to give him the second car drive over other more experienced drivers around at the time. Good on em' I reckon !!!
