what is every ones opinion on it?

It raises a few questions in my mind about it

Are lotus just after brand protection, so that is why they only issued a 1 year lease, not they have lost control of the brand now that "Team Lotus" name is now available?

What did David Hunt actually own?

What is Group Lotus' problem with all the free advertisement that Lotus F1 is giving them?

Stupid argument, no surprise at who's involved there.

Sorry and embarassed for pointing it out (as I am Malaysian) but this so called Proton company is still in existence due to repeated government bailout. New cars which are imported here cost almost 3 times their normal price due to tax imposed on them, to protect....you guessed it. Proton. Why else would I be driving a 14 year old German car.

Over here we have a saying for their cars, hardened milo cans. Not only do they make lousy cars, but they have to advertise their impudence Internationally. It's pathetic and I hope Tony Fernandez manages to sue them to brankuptcy and the nation can finally get the cars they actually want.

Rant over. :hehe:

It's all very complicated; I believe the net result of all these legal wranglings and Group Lotus licensing the Lotus name to GP2 and GP3 teams as well will mean that we will lose the Lotus name from F1 again; maybe Fernandes could get together with Dave Richards and rebrand the team Aston Martin!

Team Lotus, the brand and the legacy operation, is owned by the current Lotus Racing team. It's that simple. Proton/Lotus, the carmakers, have tried to regain that brand before and failed. The bigger question is: why would they not want a Lotus F1 team?

I have been thinking about this all day, and have come to the point that Group Lotus, want the money for the license. Why would Group not want free brand advertising, by what is the best of the new comers

Can I just say.......WHO CARES!

Let those silly Malaysians work it out for themselves.....the car will still be in the bottom end of the grid for the forseeable future.

The name Lotus carries more weight than the current team, regardless if I think they are doing a good job or if they are back markers. I believe they are making a very good effort in light of current rules and economy.

I would buy merchandise just because of the name the color and the historical provenance of Lotus.

Think if I changed my name to Elvis Presley... I don't really care about Elvis, but people who did would sure have a lot to say about it on both ends.. Especially if I could not sing or entertain..

Can you really expect better from a brand new team in their first season?

And before anyone busts out with Brawn GP, that was an existing team that was bought out. I am talking brand spanking new team.

I agree with the people saying this is all about the money.

Combine all these great comments/insights and mail it to Proton with the message "Sit on this and spin you w**kers!!"

The name is quite legendary...if he came into F1 with the team called "Team Fernandez", I assume he'd have almost 0 fans rooting for him. :hehe:
