hello can a race ever be re-run... meaning is there ever a chance after a race has been run that the FIA will call for a re run of the race... and what scenario would have this done if so??

cheers

Not possible once the results have been announced by the FIA. Look at 'Crashgate'; the verdict was that the race had been fixed but there was no re-run, nor were any points adjustments made. For a re-run to be possible there would have to be overwhelming doubt about the legality of the race which prevents an official announcement of the result.

I don't believe so; I have never heard of such a rule or any precedent for it! The closest I have seen is if a race was red flagged on the opening lap for whatever reason; the race is completely restarted back in the original starting positions including the parade lap; minus one lap of race distance!

unless its deemed so before the final results are posted, ie evidence during the end of the race but even then they would probably only DSQ the driver and then post final results rather than a re run.

Yes.

If Jean Todt ever were to be run over by the TGV and if his lifeless body was found and eaten by a pack of homeless Monégasques led by Max Mosley, and if Russell Brand were elected as new President of the FIA, then the FIA might enact a "do-over" rule.

Will it ever happen? If Bernie Ecclestone keeps leaving that trail of Mini Babybels leading from Jean's house to the railway, well, ...anything's possible. :punch:

I forgot what track, but remember last year when it was raining really hard, they decided to call off the race early and the current positions at the time became the final results.

Some american leagues would have just postponed the rest of the race til it got better.

They have no choice. They don't race in the rain.

Malaysia i think. They awarded half points for current positions.

They waited and waited for the rain to subside, but then it was getting too dark (they had already started later than the year before because of one of Bernie's brain farts, which incidentally was responsible for the late afternoon rain interruption as it ALWAYS starts to rain around that time  ), so too dark to continue racing - no flood lights like in Singapore. Thus, BE shot himself in the foot twice :banghead:

well he does have two feet.

What I never understood about the scheduling of races is why not make it logistically (financially) easier? You know, start in Asia, then fly to Australia, Europe, and the Americas. They can finish in Brazil.

Melbourne
Sepang
Shanghai
Singapore
Suzuka
<european races>
Montreal
Interlagos

Suzuka at the beginning sounds kinda weird :D already used to have it in the end. But it would make for an incredible end of season!
