First, he is quick to defend Vettel and heavily hinting that Jenson "braked early" causing the crash!!????

And now he says this:

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has ruled out the prospect of favouring Mark Webber over Sebastian Vettel in order to secure this year's drivers' title.

After crashing out of the Belgian Grand Prix, Vettel dropped 28 points off his Red Bull team-mate and 31 off championship-leader Hamilton. McLaren figures were adamant in Spa that driver equality would remain at its team, with Hamilton insisting he will not receive "any preferential treatment" over Jenson Button.

When Red Bull boss Horner was asked if Vettel is now going to play second fiddle to Webber, he answered: "That would be team orders and those are not allowed."

Webber said that the title situation was not yet clear enough for him to be given preference over Vettel, but did not rule it out in the future.

"I think it's too early, but maybe there's a different strategy compared to McLaren," he said. "It's still too early at the moment but not far away, I would say."

Vettel told Auto Motor und Sport: "There are still some races to go and we have seen how quickly things change. Monza will be hard for us and today [Sunday] we should at least have been on the podium, but everything is still in it. Head up, we move on."

However, Horner is confident that Hamilton will not cling onto his position at the top of the championship for long.

"Sometimes you ride your luck and he's had a bit of that this year," the Red Bull boss said.

Err yeah...Lewis had 2 car failures this year while in podium positions and that is lucky?

I guess he has to try and justify the best he can why his drivers are not leading the Championship after bagging almost 100% pole record this year. P****. :irked:

He's right - it's too early.

And before any of the chatroom lot protest that I was arguing the other way yesterday, I've changed my mind. 6 races, 150 points to go = too early to pick sides.
#213017
That wasn't my point...it's the fact that he's blaming another driver for his drivers' mistake and claiming other drivers mystical 'luck' which did not exist. Credit where it's due man! :irked:

He didnt say Jenson caused the crash, hes just saying that Vettel wasnt just trying to have a personal, who can get more sideways and crash into the side of button, competition with himself.

Basically he was saying that it was a mistake. Not that Jenson purposely braked early (which is a very common defensive technique) just to put Vettel off and as a result caused the crash.

And i think Singapore will decide the team's decisions. If Jenson and Vettel can turn their results then i think their teams will let them both have a go at the championship...well when i say that i mean there still might be a message across the radio saying "OMG YOUR RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, QUICK TURN YOUR ENGINE DOWN" if the two get a bit close. ;)

Yeap, and sometimes you make your own luck.

I am a Hamilton fan as some of you might know but come on calling him lucky is the stupidest thing I've heard this season, I guess even a Ferrari fan would say thaht Lewis has been class this year, hasn't made any big mistakes and he would be even higher on WDC list if his car was reliable. I know McLaren fans will agree with me, but what do other people think?

However if he had been doing that he clearly won that competition so congrats to him!

Everyone at some point this season has had some terrible luck but i think Hamilton has actually lost the most points due to his, most would probably say Vettel but i still see him as causing half his bad luck where as Hamilton hasn't really made a mistake this year.

I have to agree with you. All bias aside, you have to admit Lewis is driving at his best. He truly is getting the most out of his car at every oppurtunity and an amzing driver to watch. He is certainly in the right mindset for 2010, more mature and still fearless!

So you mean that going into the gravel yesterday when it started raining but managing to come out of it without a scratch isn't lucky?

Come on.. if Vettel, Webber or Alonso would have done that you would have started saying they are *always* lucky.

Keep your eyes on your own driver's plate boys.

What is it with people branding McLaren drivers "lucky"? First it was Jenson in the early part of the year and now it's Lewis; both drivers have made their own luck including Lewis' dubious passing of the safety car in Valencia. I didn't see the Interview so I can't say too much about Horner's comments, but if he was suggesting that Jenson braked early on purpose; he is more of a fool than I thought he was; Jenson did brake early but that was because he read the conditions much better than Vettel!

this is very unprofessional for a team boss like horner trying to say hamilton is leading the championship only because of luck. and its non-sense he is trying to blame button for vettels mistake.

i think rather than talking about hamiltons luck or trying to blame button for vettels mistake, horner should better advise vettel to take care when ever he want to overtake.

i remember hamilton making 32 overtaking moves in the first 4 races of the season. He never hit any body ...... all the overtaking moves were perfect. But i dont remember when vettel made a clear overtaking last time.

in spa he crashed into button and in fact he was the one who was lucky to continue racing. But still he did not learn from his mistake and he again hit liuzzi's front wing which caused the puncture.

horner trying to play mind games ????????? no use !!!!!!!!! its not a matter of who stays on top of the table during the season but what really matters is who is on top of the table after the last race in abu dhabi. sure - it is going to be hamilton
