I'm going to plump for Schumacher (as much as detest the man) as Schumi got on with business when things weren't going his way unlike Alonso who moans, moans and moans and usually drops back because he can't get past his perceived injustices! I don't see Alonso winning another five WDC's, he doesn't have the mental attitude!

PS: I have edited your post so people can only select one option, kinda silly if both options can be selected!

its a weird question.

Wont vote. I dont see any way/reason for comparing. Maybe that means they're tied hehe.

Neither do I

Think Alonso's more temperamental than Schumacher mentally, some times he's fantastic but things get to him more and cloud his judgement ability, maybe in the long run Alonso will cool it with a long career under Stefano but still keep the fire in a positive sense. Then again, maybe it's just where Alonso is at the moment, it became clear pretty quickly that the Ferrari wasn't really up to scratch but they were still trying to fight for the title and all his little mistakes and bad luck at the start just sort of added up. However once Ferrari picked up the pace again, so did Fernando.

Think I read a blog (Benson on the bbc maybe) that said Ferrari were even more impressed with Alonso's management and technical feedback than Shumacher's.

In terms of driving ability, no idea whoes better.

I can see the point, comparing Schumacher against Alonso in 2010 would be pointless, Schumacher is nowhere this season! But compare Schumacher in 1999 and Alonso in 2010 works on many levels, similar age, same amount of titles, both driving for Ferrari in their respective years, although 1996/7 would be a better comparison!

What i mean is... this sounds like: so which dress do you like? A or B.

- B. Because you look good in it.
- So, does that mean I look bad in A?!!
- Ok wear A then.
- But I like B better.
- Ok, wear B then.
- Nah, I dont like the color. I'll wear A.
:microwave:

So, i guess.. because i think this... they must be tied to me.

OK, I see you're point, but all of these polls are the same, ultimately it comes down to which driver/team you like, some people will say Hamilton, some will say Alonso!

Schumacher. He fought a McLaren that was actually faster than his Ferrari since the previous year, and he still did the same in '96 and '97. In those last 3 years, he managed to keep the WDC alive until the last race (or second to last in one chance, maybe?).
He then got injured quite badly but when he returned he was actually faster and more determined than before. That is a sign of an incredible mental strength.

Alonso is a very fine driver indeed, but personally I think Schumacher has been *the* driver.
In the end is also a personal thing, and I have adored Schumacher for more than 10 years, so..

Yeah, but Alonso had to challenge an established driver in the dominant team. And in the 2nd championship the tires were not the sole factor and Schumacher was NOT in his waning days, ie he was in form when he left. Also, while Alonso got hit with several things not going his way... he's recovered with good results. So, about the moaning and so on... well, the press wasnt the same back then; and perhaps Alonso gets rid of his demons by moaning haha.

Anyway... Schumacher is the most soft spoken and cold driver ever. He only showed any emotions at all in the crying scene about Senna... other than that the mans a robot........ see the Barrichello episode, Rubens was probably expecting a tearful :crying: Schumacher getting him a "get well soon" teddy bear, but instead........

yeah, Schumacher has been THE driver. I think if anyone wants to be the best in F1, definitely the example to follow is Schumacher's. Super fit, very technically minded, aggressive when he needs to, more calculative when required.... etc etc. You name it, Schumacher had the whole package. Even more so than Senna. Sorry guys ;) But I think Alonso knows this as well :hehe:

Yeah, don't take me wrong, Alonso is a great driver. It's just that I grew up supporting Schumacher, I'll never forget what he did.

In 2005 Ferrari weren't that good because of the tyres, but in 2006 I do admit that Schumacher and Alonso had a fair fight. But Schumacher could lose for once, too. That's what happened, Fernando managed to beat Michael, which proves Alonso is also a great driver.

I also recall Schumacher crying at Imola 2004 the day after his (and Ralf's obviously) mother died. He looked pretty awkward and emotional at Zeltweg 2002, after the team order. But yeah, he isn't a very emotional man.
