Formula One related discussion.

We all know how slick Formula One has to be at the best of times, but what about those moments when the sport lets its guard down?

I'm talking about Kimi with the ice cream, or EJ with his shirts. Formula One with a "human face" (to partly quote the workings of Dubcek in Czechoslovakia in early '68).

So in future if you find anything humorous or interesting about anything or anybody in F1 please feel free to post it here.

I got the idea for this thread after reading the Lotus press release for today's qualifying session.

Here is an excerpt from Tony Fernandes:

I'm now off to order a kebab for Jarno and Heikki. Well, maybe a kebab pizza for Jarno, and a reindeer kebab for Heikki, if anyone in Istanbul can find them one.....

I think Formula 1 would be way more appealing if they focused more on who these guys are. Stuff like Twitter and Facebook helps a lot, and also Q&A features in F1.com. Still there's a lot to be done, at least for the United States market. People love a life story, and F1 marketing provides very little of that.

The Red Bull guys are really cool; that celebration at Monaco was very "human". Its exciting that these sort of things are happening... I think Mcichael Schumacher took out the human-ness of F1, he was just too good and cold; like Arnold's Terminator from the first movie :D

Michael? "Too good" Cant agree on that one.

And the Red Bull guys. Webber is a genuine guy when he quits the moaning. But Vettel...watch this space if he keeps loosing to Webber.

Look to moto GP for real celebrations-started by Rossi-hilarious some of the things he's done. You'd oprobably get fined or banned though if you tried i in F1 .
The whole F1 corporate image discourages humanness.

They may not be in F1, but Garry Rogers Motorsport in v8 supercars are a very human team. Team owner wearing dresses, drivers cutting their race suits in half in the driver parade.

Very emotional stuff from Schum after the 2000 Italien GP too. All 3 guys really stuggled for words

So much for EJ's shirts. DC's sweat patches!

What about EJ a few weeks ago where he was sweating like he was ill or somthing... I called my mum that morning and told her to switch to channel 1 to show her.
I love how after the little interview he had changed his shirt.

The Twitters from the HRT drivers are always funny

:hehe:

A lot of what Tony Fernandes says is good, he seems a really good guy, the kind of character you like in Formula One.

Both of the twitter feeds from HRT drivers and Tony Fernandes are hillarious and well worth a read.
