Come on Australia. This is a bit ridiculous!! Hamilton is being summoned to court on the 24th August in Australia, and Spa is on the 29th.
Is this a poor attempt at removing one of Webbers championship contenders? Not impressed.

Have you been to Australia? It is probably one of the most over-legislated societies on Earth...

Webber blasts rise of 'nanny state'
http://www.theage.com.au/national/webber-blasts-rise-of-nanny-state-20100328-r55n.html
the grand prix ace said Australia was becoming a nanny state and ''it pisses me off coming back here, to be honest''.

Webber has never really had much respect for his country. Not that it really deserves any.

thats a bit over the top i think!

Yes, in hindsight it was a harsh statement. My apologies. (not sarcasm)

My relationship with my Aus is a complex one. I am one of those people who have been told to love it or leave it. I've been an expat for some time now. Like Webber, it pisses me off every time I return. The country is going down a dangerous path and no one really seems to care.

On my recent return, I was informed the Australian federal government will be deciding what Australians can look at online by implementing the most sweeping compulsory internet censorship scheme in the Western world. Three cheers for Oz.

Digressing. I'm guessing Hamilton will probably just plead guilty through a lawyer and pay a hefty fine.

trust me there are many people against this planned internet censorship!

As an Aussie living in Victoria having faced the same charge Hamilton is it doesn't surprise me. It is compulsory to attend a court appearence if you break the governments anti-hoon laws. Now I'm not the biggest supporter of Hamilton but that is pure stupidity! The only reason I can think of is to why the Victoria Police would press ahead with this is to highlight to all the young 'hoons' out there that no matter who you are, there will be consequences for what your behaviour on our roads will be. OMG.. I cn't believe I have just stuck up for Lewis..

Man, the amount of sh*t you can get away with over here in Ireland on the roads compared to Oz is mad.

If Hamilton did a burn out over here the Gardai would pull him over, tell him not to be messing on the road and then ask for his signature and maybe a picture with him. :hehe:

He can maybe ignore it but for PR reasons he wouldn't. The worst that would happen is there'd be an outstanding warrant on him in OZ. If he did that here he would get a ticket that he can pay by mail or even online, unless he chooses to plead not guilty. I'm guessing we don't have that type of legal connection with whatever country he lives in(for more serious matters it would be called an extradition treaty but for traffic I don't know what you call it) like my province has with most Eastern US states. It means if I get a ticket in NY and ignore it, it affects my driving record in my home province. I don't know, where does he live, Monaco? Even if they can affect his record there, I bet the government there would tell them to sod off. They coddle their celebrities there.

Wouldn't that cause some problems at the next Australian GP?
