Ecclestone working to secure HRT future

Friday, May 14th 2010, 09:29 GMT

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone says he is working to make sure all 12 teams finish the season, suggesting the Hispania Racing squad has financial issues.

"HRT have got problems. I will sort it out," Ecclestone told the Telegraph in an interview on Friday. "I'd like to see 12 teams finish the season because they have made the commitment to come in.

"We might lose one of them. But I'm doing my bit to make sure it doesn't happen."

HRT made it to the grid in Bahrain after an eleventh-hour rescue deal, but arrived in the first race without any testing and has struggled at the back of the grid.

I can't say i didn't see this coming given how last minute everything was at that team. I hope we don't lose them this soon either. :(

I think so to, he seems to be out qualifying bruno and has had less crashes (I think we'll excuse chandock's first race).

As Scotty rightfully informed me some time ago, Senna's car appeared to have a broken rear end? Could be slowing him up.

Bernie F1 International...

This will be because of the Senna name and the fact Chandhock is Indian.

Senna is good for F1, and he wants an Indian GP.

It'll be a shame to lose a team this early but that said; in F1 it's survival of the fittest; HRT should never have entered F1 without guaranteed finances to complete the season. Especially when teams like Pro-Drive and Lola were overlooked; who had much better finances and racing experience.

Exactly, just look at Super Aguri a few seasons ago, they dropped out around this time seasons ago and Bernie didn't do much to save them.

Good riddance indeed. You'd assume this would be good news for Senna too. He might be able to get a deal with a half decent team like Sauber or someone

Personally I don't believe that Bruno Senna will be picked up very readily by another team; he hasn't done anything extraordinary in my opinion.

He did a good job in quali today i reckon, outqualifying Chandhok by a second (dunno if Chandhok had issues too though) despite Senna having basically a broken car (ongoing rear end problem).

What's most worrying for Hispania now is that they're falling back from EVERYONE including the other newbies (who seem to have reduced the gap to the main pack to around 1 - 1.5s)...

That'll be the lack of money for development; HRT have stood still while Virgin (despite their fuel tank issues) and Lotus have moved forward.
