I was very impressed with him at China. Possibly the best drive of the rookies this year. Sure he made a big mistake and slipped from 4th to outside the top 10 but he was s*** quick near the end of the race. He passed Massa, Schumacher, Sutil, Barrichello & Alguersuari.

He is definitely one to watch this year. A world of difference between him and the last few drivers that filled that second seat at Renault.

He's exciting to watch, I'm not completely sold on his talent just yet as his car is considerably better than the cars being driven by other rookies on the grid this year. Let's see what Renault thinks of him since rumors are already flying that he's out if he doesn't produce results by mid season.

He was very quick in the closing stages of the race. Petrov isn't the finished article by any means, but he actually has the potential to score regular points and with Renault's improvements coming thick and fast, he has the perfect opportunity to prove himself.

It is looking up for Renault. Kubica has been outstanding this season (unsung hero of 2010 in my opinion) and now the team has a credible rookie who appears willing to learn.

I hope he does well because Russia is relatively untapped as a market and could prove very lucrative.

Ya Renault are looking very good this year. Kubica appears rejuvenated after his terrible year last year and like you said, this is the perfect opportunity for Petrov to shine in his debut season. He appears able to deliver when things go his way.

I couldn't even image the money that Russia could bring to the Renault F1 team in merchandise sales and F1 as a whole.

I realise alot of people might not like me suggesting this, but a Russian GP would be good for Formula One

Ahhh of course. He deserves a thread :)

That was a fine drive. As said above ^^ the best drive from any rookie his yr
Guess it will be between him and Alguersuari... unfortunately the other rookies are in too crap cars to be able to evaluate

Sure, he's made some mistakes and has been outdone by his teammate on every race, but face it: Kubica is one of the top guys in F1.
Renault is doing very good, i'm quite impressed considering the sort of yr they've had and having lost some personnel.

As for F1 in russia... they've got lots of oil rich guys, so seems appropriate that they spend their money on the promotion of fuel consumption.
Would that mark the real end to the cold war? That'd be neat if Russia beats USA to F1 :hehe::wink:

I would say that Vitaly Petrov is a real talent for the future; I believe he could be up there at the sharp end consistently if he gets a good run in F1, maybe even challenging for wins and championships; comparing him to Robert Kubica is unfair given the Poles pedigree, but Petrov has been there or thereabouts this season.

Talented, strong, Quick and is very straight. He has really light a bell in my head. I have hired for my Monster Wolf Renault team  And get has got me 2nd in the championship! but set aside that he is an awesome driver. I can see him driving for Ferrari in the near future :)

But i can see him being 7th in the WDC....
