Ive only just heard this speculation:-
Ron Dennis says its possible that the Red Bull drinks too much fuel or has too small an engine. The ECU will switch the car to fuel saving mode if it senses this and that could have accounted for Vettel's loss of power.
Well there's an interesting idea. What do you think?

I think it's possible and would account for the fact that he picked up pace again later, and given that McLaren did design the ECU he surely knows a lot about it... But at the same time... hmm not sure... you know what i mean?

Yes I do , my feelings exactly.

I remember Newey picked the Renault engine because of its low centre of gravity, so maybe it is quite small.

Pft, nonsense. Clearly it is just yet more cheating from McLaren.

Code: Select all
if ( $Manufacturer eq "Red Bull Racing" ) {
    $FuelSaveLevel = 30;
}
else {
    $FuelSaveLevel = 15;
}

Now. Obviously they would have had to know that Red Bull would be so strong in 2010 and that the Renault engine would be good on fuel consumption. So they must have bought an illegal crystal ball, too. Or received technical documentation from RBR and Renault. Go on Ferrari fans, dig in.

Theres no need for him to play those games. He's not involved with the F1 team anymore. And whats to gain?
