I hate the way that most of the Tilke tracks are designed because they seem to have too many frustrating corners that limit overtaking. Shanghai is one such track that I've had a go at changing a few corners:

Image

Turn 10 has been made easy flat to allow a chance to pass into T11 which has been made a third gear, banked left hander

The last corner has been changed to a left sweep in 5th gear to allow a draft down to the first corner

He sure is but I just don't like the way how there are those frustrating corners that make it harder to overtake and I think that with a few changes, then overtaking should happen.

Who is the real idiot, the guy that continues to design boring tracks or Bernie who continues to look to him for new track designs?

Tilke's circuits all contain the same types of corners especially the ones in the last few years (Shangahi, Abu Dhabi, Valencia, Korea, Bahrain). Malaysia is the best Tilke track and Turkey was a surprise. Its not good to have all second gear corners and constant radius corners. And Hockenheim has been well designed to have a balance between fast and slow corners and definitely creates tons of overtaking (2004 springs to mind).

We could go all day changing tracks to what we like but the fact is that they will stay the same unless Mr. Tilke is a member here :yikes::yikes:

My changes to Shanghai can be done at a relatively low cost and I beleive will allow a couple of extra chances to pass.

Yep, Tilke is just trying to earn a living, it's Bernie railroading him.

Good thinking there, I thought I'd add some alterations as well, mine are in green. :)

I would also add more gravel traps and make the kerbs much bigger, but already this re-design with your alterations and mine make this look a lot more exciting to drive on.

I don't understand the logic; why would Bernie want to have dull tracks? that's detrimental to his money making opportunities. Plus I would have thought that it was the track owners that employs Hermann Tilke to design the tracks not Bernie, unless its the same BS with the new teams having tom use Cosworth engines.

:hehe: Gotta think about that one...
Best solution to his tracks would be to bomb them. :yes:

:eek: Maybe! :\

:lol::lol:

All they need is a few bulldozers and some bitumen and the corner radius can be altered to make them faster and also get rid of those corners that are limiting the overtaking rather than creating it.

I thought it was all about squeezing more grand stands in.
