Montezemelo and Domenicalli have spoken to Alonso prior to next season to make clear to him that he will be racing for ferrari and not for himself. This come on the back of his time at renault when he expected the team to work exclusively for him to the detriment of his team mates and following an acrimonious year at mclaren when he asked the team to slow down hamilton.
This comes from an article in the Times on saturday.

If thats true, its sad really that he's had to have this spelt out to him. He's a world champion, yes, but he didn't do that on his own. There's a reason that F1 is a TEAM sport, not a platform for your own personal success.

odds are Alonso will still race for himself

I do hope so..They eeked the life out of Kimi...I hope they don't do the same to IMO the most complete driver on the grid...Ferrari fan I may be, but really? who do they think they are ? At the moment it is like the passion as been replaced with menaces :(

I also like to think Alonso has learnt from his brief outing at McLaren, even though I would have been as Pi**ed off myself in the same situation at that time.

Any driver worth his salt will do what he likes/behave how he likes and drive his socks off...like Senna did (popular or not) Problem is...Ferrari dictate now, not the other way round as in days of yore  and that.....

.....will be the start of a descent towards the good old days of being the fanciest looking back markers

Find me an F1 driver who doesn't posess that attitude?

Vettel?
Webber?
Sutil?

Any driver that has stuck with a team through thick & thin for the good of the team, rather then pushing their own agenda?

and which one of those has a world championship?

To be fair....vettel hasn't been in the game that long...and if he doesn't win a DWC I will eat my shoes x

Saying that...is he at RBR for the team spirit or personal gain? I will put my money on the latter....he is surely as selfish as Alonso...but has the decoram (sp?) to know how to behave and get a team behind him to reach the goals he has in mind.

Decoram, correct :)

I totally disagree that Vettel is as selfish as Alonso. True, he hasn't been champion, but he's been bloody close and has the ability to be one.

In all fairness Button should be added to the list :) .
