He?!?

That was what I meant. I don't count Ferrari as a 'manufacturer', really. But I suppose Mercedes are a new 'manufacturer'. Pfft, let's chalk it up to poetic licence.

Usually though a manufacturer makes their own engines for the F1 car...

Renault are the last of the middle class manufactures, in which I mean they make common affordable cars unlike Mercedes, McLaren & Ferrari.

You lost me with that one, in what manner is making (common affordable cars) relevant to being a true F1 manufacturer?

It isn't. I'm just saying out of the manufactures left they are the only one left that make common road cars that are affordable.

Which is maybe why they have been identified as the last manufacturer left of that type in F1.

At 25% Renault still own a good bit of the team. Bill Gates was the face for Microsoft for years at only a 10% shareholding. It is Renault expertise building the 2010 challenger. From Renault's announcement it would appear the team personnel is remaining mostly the same too so the car is remaining rightfully Renault branded.

When you boil it down, what really matters is that the car is a Renault and that is what it will be.

Thing is we are not discussing the relevance of an "affordable car". I'm not happy myself about Renaults departure but I as you most likely still retain hope that in the near future we will see their return as a 90% manufacturer. I cannot give them that last 10% simply because their engine is farmed out, sorry.
