Is it legal to get on a train without a ticket, with the intentions of getting one on there?

Well, there's a fine if you have no ticket for your journey, so I would assume so. Best buy one at the station ahead of boarding. :)

I think it depends on the conducter. If you say i had to rush to get the train and couldn't get a ticket some will allow you to buy one.Although I would guess most would fine you, think it can be up to £1000.

Been a while since I've been on a train, but you can buy your ticket on board with some trains, however its always advisable to get the ticket in advance as the conductor is entitled to fine you if you don't have a ticket.

I always buy a ticket and get annoyed when the ticket guy doesnt ask me as I could of gotten away with not buying one :/

Only time I would get one on-board is if I had to literally run and get on the train or I would of missed it.

One time I had a off-peak ticket which I heard them say on telecom thing that they dont accept, so when ticket bloke came round I pretended to be asleep- works everytime

think its aright if you have the means to buy on on the train.

thing is you can get stopped leaving the station platform in some places now and asked for a ticket i'm not sure what happens if you don't have one.

Most stations if you want to leave, you have to go through a ticket barrier, so no ticket- your screwed and will have to buy one

I hate trains.

Car's are far far better, so headless i wouldn't buy a ticket i'd buy a car and if you already have one buy some fuel and drive to where ever you want to go.
