Mercedes would quite like Schumacher but may not be able to get him out of his ferrari contract...but all is not that simple. If he stays with ferrari he will no longetr be involved with the F1 team, he will move to road -cars. Why? Alonso already pulling a hissy fit :hehe::hehe:

I feel it's necessary to ask again, is it opinion or news? Or perhaps a rumour? Sounds like :bs: TBH

Article entitled 'Schumacher weighs up Mercedes opportunity'
Not a big article. It weighs up the chance of him driving again , has a couple of quotes from Brawn and Haug then....

" It is unclear whether Mercedes would be able to prise Schumacher out of his ferrari contract. it is understood that he will no longer be involved in the Ferrari F1 team and will concentrate on road-car development-partly because of pressure from new signing Fernando Alonso"

Make of it what you will. Make what you will of anything written by the press. Typical Alonso behaviour tho.

Maybe, doesn't seem like typical Ferrari behaviour though. They must really be smitten with Fernando.

Mind you, they were smitten with Kimi and look where that went.

It's all nonsense anyway - he'd be able to get out of the contract fairly easily as he's an independent contractor as opposed an employee of Ferrari. Even if they have a competitor's clause in the contract it wouldn't matter, as his existing contract doesn't cover F1 any more, as has been mentioned. Therefore what Ferrari might be able to insist on is that he can't work for a competitor in a similar role - i.e. road car development. They wouldn't legally be able to prevent him moving to another F1 team.

Even a half decent lawyer (let alone a top one) would have an easy time negotiating a release in this type of case, hell I could do it in a morning.
