Starting today, Formula 1 driver Jaime Alguersuari will be a SEAT ambassador thanks to the agreement reached with the Spanish brand to provide him with a very special model, the León CUPRA R, which he will be using to get around when not driving a competition car.

León CUPRA R

At a special event held at the SEAT Martorell facility, Jaime Alguersuari was given the keys to his new León CUPRA R – the recently launched and most powerful car the brand ever produced – by Chairman of SEAT’s Board of Directors Dr. Francisco Javier García Sanz and SEAT Chairman James Muir.

This agreement stems from the company’s intentions to support the successes achieved by sportspeople such as Alguersuari in motorsport, as well as in many other specialities, as was highlighted by Dr. Francisco Javier García Sanz, “SEAT is a young sport-oriented brand, and its car designs mirror that spirit. That is why we are delighted that Jaime, personifying the talent of the new generation of Spanish sportspeople, and the youngest ever driver to début in Formula 1, should be able to enjoy driving his new León CUPRA R, SEAT’s most powerful car ever, launched just a few weeks ago.”

For his part, Jaime Alguersuari added “I always had an idea that being a Formula 1 driver meant new challenges and a few perks. SEAT has asked me to be an ambassador for the brand, and starting today this brand-new eye-catching León CUPRA R is going to be my personal car. It’s a real honour and privilege.”

Read this today, made me chuckle.

It's in regards to Algy not yet being fully assured a cockpit next year

STR yet to confirm the second seat

Red Bull has played down claims that Jaime Alguersuari may not race with Toro Rosso Ferrari next season.
The recently published FIA entry list reinforced the fact that while Sebastien Buemi will race next year, Alguersuari's participation is yet to be confirmed.
However, a Red Bull spokesperson is quoted as saying by Diario AS: "Buemi will be racing with Toro Rosso, and Jaime is almost assured (a seat)."

High brow comedy, is much better than all this virgin nonsense.
