what's wrong with the Chanel Tunnel? It mean we can get out of Britain more easily

There was a program on terrestrial TV on this tunnel recently over here. http://demand.five.tv/Episode.aspx?epis ... 5143120001 (don't know if the link works outside of the UK or not)

Basically looks at five other tunnels in history where key inventions were made which have all helped move technology forward allowing this tunnel to be built. Fascinating stuff (even if UI find the voiceover man really irritating!)

The impact is far greater though: the Swiss railway system is very interdependent and very timely, proverbially so. The change in time required for that railway line will affect (and improve) scheduling throughout the entire train system.
Also, don't forget the environmental benefits with lots of polluting 40-ton trucks going off the roads.

Thats awesome, I would think it would get boring traveling in it though? I mean you'll be looking at nothing for a long time.

But damn Europeans. I'm so jealous of their trains, I wish we had high speed rail here in the states.

Don't be jealous of the UK's though. Most of ours suck. I think the only on time train I've seen recently was a steam train.
