I'm fed up with journalists knocking Jenson Button. Many of the comments, and the constant questioning of his motivation and all this talk of "pressure".

The teams are all hyper competitive this year, just look at the lap times. There are a thousand things that could go wrong, but the cars are all very reliable these days.
The permutations and variables involved in the sport are vast.
So, if Jenson does win the Drivers Championship it will be a wonderful achievement and thoroughly deserved.

Hes managed 3 points a grandprix since Turkey. Rubens 4.5 points & Vettel 5 points.

So, if that remains the same for Brazil he has it in the bag. Although I must admit the he hasn't been that impressive in the second half of the season. I would love to him win again to shut up the critics and so forth.

The critics jumped on his back pretty quickly. He hasn't performed well, but it's been amplified by the ridiculous fluctuations in team strength. In the past, if the champ to be had a few bad races he'd be finishing 4th, not this year.

Jenson is almost certain to win the WDC this season but it's likely to be with a whimper; what happened to champions crossing the line emphatically with a win in the final race, JB will probably win the championship with a 5th or 6th place much like Lewis did last season, which is disappointing given the strong start to the season Button had!

With all due respect.
Monkeywank!

Name the last "champ" that has won with points aplenty and no controversy.

The fact that people are still talking about lewis two years on will make a lie of that statement.

Massa is still.... even in the past two weeks... moaning about one race that might have changed everything. (it wouldn't, he duck up his pitstops).

Hasn't Button performed well? he WON the first half of the season, beating his team-mate in the same car by a quite frankly silly amount. To say he cannot dominate in a car that suits him well is just plain stupidity.

For the second half of the season his car hasn't been the equal of his competitors, this is shown by the pace of his team-mate and title challenger who has also been midfield at best and SLOWER in general than button.

remember how last year people where complaining that Hamilton won the championship, and how they wanted to change the points system so the guy with the most wins takes the title? ... well yeah here you go

Jenson can win the championship.
Unfortunately, Jenson can, it seems, win the championship by tooling around in the midfield.
Even more unfortunately, that appears to be what Jenson is doing.

the guys had 6 wins, what does it matter if he gets them all at the start or sporadically through the season? 6 wins is alot in any season! he will be a deserving champion no matter how he finishes the season off!

He built up a buffer when he had a dominant car and un underperforming teammate. That's far less impressive than the same number of wins against strong competition.

Not all of them, no. When you've got an utterly dominant car, whether it's the start of 2009 or 2004, and Rubens Barrichello is your teammate and not challenging sufficiently, it's not that difficult to win the championship.
