Following the news that Renault won't be disputing race fixing accusations, coupled with the departure of Pat Symonds and Flavio Briatore from F1, it seems young Nelson Piquet was telling the truth (however crazed his allegations first appeared). Given he's obviously had a very troubled time within the Renault team, do you think other teams would consider him for 2010, or has his topflight motorsport career already come to an end?

he has gotten his revenge on Flavio yet in doing so i think he has cost himself any chance at a F1 seat ever again. Unless his father buys into a team.

That's a tough one. He only ever once showed decent pace, finishing fifth in a race that his team-mate won. Crashing seventeen times in a season and a half isn't a very good record, either. Plus he was willing to endanger himself, other drivers, marshalls and fans by crashing his car deliberately to help his team-mate win a race. On the other hand, he had good pace in the junior categories and Flavio is well-known for favouring one driver whilst giving the other a hard time. Even Fernando reckons that Nelsinho is talented, and Fernando has always been a good judge of that.

I could potentially see one of the new teams taking a look, but none of the top teams would take him on after his Renault spell. Perhaps if he could prove himself talented in another team, that would change, but for now his options are probably not plentiful.

Despite the fact that Piquet was telling the truth, he was still part of the scandal. The fact that the whole fix-gate was true only makes him less of a man. I mean it doesn't matter how pressure he was under, he still could have made a choice and made the right chance.

Sure he would have been sacked at the end of 2008, but he would at least still have a chance of getting back into the sport. He would have had his fathers money and would have a relatively clean slate. Drivers who fail in F1 at first can make a reasonable return - I mean look at Glock.

However now he has no chance of returning to Formula One, unless daddy dearest buys him a team like he has throughout his career.

Piquet is no knight in shining armour, in this case. He is just as despicable as Symonds and Briatore.

Here is a worrying thought: imagine Piquet had kept his Renault seat. Certainly, he would have been more than prepared to keep his mouth shut in that case.

There is no right and wrong in Formula One - the only decision to take is the one which you ultimately benefit from.

You're spot on. But not sure if this would have been any different without this informer case. I mean he never made any results outside of daddy's team. So why would anyone hire that guy to drive, unless of course he finances the whole team, and is happy to play 2nd fiddle.

Piquet was happy to go along with the BS from the start, until he got sacked. Not to mention his driving record in F1. Speaks for itself really, anyone with any sense wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

According to his ex-boss his into older men, but hey what do I know.

Honestly if he ever drives in a team not funded by his dad in any professional series outside of Brazil, I'd call it a miracle.
