So I headed out with the camera at the weekend, saw some cows in a field, and decided to take their picture. This then happened:

A very common behavior among cows. It indicates that there are cows in the herd that are in estrus and may signal that fact (in wild cows especially) to the bull(s) that may be at a distance. The mounting cow (unlike the mounted one) may not be in estrus at the time, but stands to benefit as well when the bull has serviced the estrous cow as he usually doesn't stop after one lady (legendary!)

Do you keep an encyclopaedia on hand for these little titbits of information... you do seem to have a million of them :P
