Like many of you, I continue to become more and more irritated by KERS. I really see it making a huge difference at Monza tomorrow, the KERS cars are probably going to all shoot up to the front on lap one and slow everyone down for the duration of the race. At Monza there are a lot of great overtaking spots because of all the long straights, but when you can get into a perfect tow position and have the guy in front of you just pull away (thinking of Heikki and Rubens at Turkey), you don't stand a chance at making a pass really. I see this happening a lot tomorrow, Sutil will probably have the fastest car of the top three, but will get stuck behind Lewis and Kimi, probably Heikki too actually because of the long straight to T1. Unless one of the first 3 KERS cars have a bad start, I just don't see anyone passing them.

Well if KERS is such an advantage, well why don't the others have it as well? I mean, if it would make such a difference, nobody would want to fall behind by a margin, and they would develop it and use it. But the fact is, that they didn't, and they have to face it.

KERS is the way forward, F1 is all about technical advance, if only the KERS restrictions where lifted so that it could produce as much power as the teams could harvest

i like kers cause it provides a 'do you use it, dont you?' scenario, sometimes a team gets it wrong, and it really is the only way to be able to overtake a car of similar performance, it also involves a bit of drivr skill, most of the time youd use it where the team tells you, but if ur being hounded/after a position, you have to decide! and once its gone its gone for the lap

if anything id like to see it extended for longer, or bigger hp boost!

Because most teams tried and got it wrong. The KERS system not only has to be well designed in itself but it has to suit to the car. If you haven't made one before, I'd reckon it's not easy to get it right. McLaren got it right and Ferrari did ok.

The other teams efforts were lame and they don't have time inseason to get it up to scratch.

As for KERS at monza, both McLaren drivers are claiming that KERS is actually pretty hard to charge around Monza. Something to do with torque under braking that I don't really understand. But it means they only get 80% charge per lap

no, a field with kers would be fun, people gettin close to each other and using kers at different times would be interesting. it would be a gamble to use it some places on a lap becoz the guy attackin mite have saved some

There are not many breaking points at Monza where the KERS can be recharged - that's why.

I am just guessing here but I would imagine that the torque is caused by spinning the KERS motor/flywheel putting extra weight through the engine and gearbox to the rear wheel.

I would think that that is why Fisi struggled because as the device spins up the amount of weight/engine braking will change differently to a non KERS car.
