There are a maxium of 60 points on offer. If Button keeps going the way his going he'll score about 15-30 points. But it could easily be more. However he is well over due to have a non points round. My theory is if Red Bull don't choose who to favour (Webber or Vettel) they'll keep taking points away from each other and decrease the chances of one of them overtaking
Button. Personally I'd go Webber becasue he's more consistent and Vettel has only 2 engines left. Now just say Red Bull decide to choose one of them. The driver could score a few wins and a couple podiums and some high point finishes (So around 35-50 points, maybe more if lucky). If Red Bull don't pick a driver to favour now, Button will have enough points to hold onto the world title.

If a Red Bull driver does win the world championship, they would have lead it for the first time after the seasons over. There is no way they can get the lead before the final round

Thoughts?

I agree. I'd support Webber, given that Sebi's chances are slimmer than Mark's. The two engine situation doesn't help at all, we have two more engine tracks coming: SPA and MONZA.

I just can't see past Button. He's been so lucky the way the points have been spread out amongst others when he has been below par.Agree with the above posts that RBR need to focus on one driver to win it,but can't see that happening.

Little suprised no one's really mentions ruby here if he can do what he just did in valancia a few more times, with Jenson having a bad round or two he'll be leading.

On the subject of RBR i think they would be silly not to back Webber now hes got more points, hes slightly more consistant and he has more engines.

Only think that could perhaps save vettle is if they hold off until after spa and it rains at spa and vettle wins with webber having a bad race.

While it is more than possible for Rubens Barrichello to become champion, I wonder if he will be able to remain in the right frame of mind for the rest of the season. Could he seriously stay level headed if he suspects foul play within Brawn, or favouritism towards his team mate?

One person that wasn't helped yesterday was Button. There is no way now that Brawn can ask Rubens to play Number 2. He himself has a chance of the championship.

Simply enthralling.

Well they were talking about the pressure getting to button perhaps?

He seamed abit down after the race and he defo thinking about the championship now after saying "i need to get more points"

Spa's gonna be Mclaren/RBR teritory though a wet race would make it intresting.

I so want Rubino to win the Championship.I don't otherwise believe in destiny or deserving to win and all that, but if there ever was a candidate for such a thing he would be the one.
Its probably his last season, most number of F1 races ever [281 i think, currently]
So many years in No2 in arguably the most dominant Team in F1 history.
And a nice guy.

Button is currently on a run of bad GP's though, and still scoring points. Which is how you win championships...
