Ok, a bit early to start this thread but there's no rule against it now is there? ;)

This race is something for us to all dread, considering how last year's yawn-fest (and James Allen talking about McLaren engineers being WW2 "codebreakers working in darkened rooms" and then tomato throwing contests) was easily the worst race for a long time. There was only one overtaking move, which was Nakajima on a Honda.

Seeing how this year's cars still can't overtake (I think this has become more apparent since more Double-deck diffusers have appeared because overtaking was plentiful in the first 2 races) can this year's race be any better? Or will it be even worse?

Will Renault have their suspension rescinded allowing Alonso to race infront of his adoring fans? Who will replace Massa if he is not fit to race (which is more than likely)? Will this be another track for McLaren to say "this track should suit our car"? Can Nico get on the podium or even win? Can Nakajima finally get some points? Will there be a safety car? Will Brawn sort their mess out? And how will Algy do on home turf... well more like concrete?

Meanwhile, it's time for the summer break... let's catch some surf! 8-)

Hopefully if Renault gets banned the crazy Spaniards will get the bulls out, flock to the circuit and stampede on the track!

Such a long wait, what is it? 25 days until the first practice? :crying: There're quite a few big decisions to come out before then though. Even if Renault win their appeal that doesn't guarantee Piquet a spot on the grid.

I think Schumacher will win :cloud9:

Thing is though, everyone on here knows if he came back he would show he still has it and would kick everyone's arse's in :cloud9:

I'm happy to give Valencia another shot. We've only had one boring race there after all. Even desperately unimaginative track layouts have produced interesting races in the past, just look at the two races we've had at Fuji. Valencia is one of my favourite venues in terms of location but I just wish the walls were a little closer like on a proper street circuit.
I think a couple more races there are needed before we write it off.

True, we can give Valencia another chance. But I still think it's a terrible design, and I really don't like the fact that it's so bland. It's just a giant concrete slab, with white lines and kerbs. I like tracks that have a bit of character. Like the deserts in Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi. The buildings and backdrop of Monaco and Singapore. The rise's and crests of Spa and Istanbul. Valencia is just dull.

But anyway, we'll see what the race gives us.

Personally I'm extremely sad that Massa won't be racing. It's an empty grid without him.

A long boring wait before a long boring race. Las year Valencia was the only race that i fell asleep while watching it.

Also I thing Renaults ban is a bit harsh. It was a simple mistake by one of the pit crewmen. I think a fine would have been more appropriate. Suspension is to harsh.

From F1 Live:

Having silenced the paddock sniggers, Martin Whitmarsh has dared the Formula One community to laugh again at his prediction of more wins this year.

In 2004, amid McLaren's last major competitive slump, a British journalist ran around Silverstone almost naked, having derisively wagered that the British team will fail to record a single win.

No one in the media centre has been so foolish in 2009, but mere weeks ago the doubters remained, according to team boss Whitmarsh.

"I guess if you had predicted that result people would have had a good laugh at us," he said, referring to his first appearance on the podium on Sunday as a winning team boss.

It is true that the twisty Hungaroring layout shrouded some of the MP4-24's aerodynamic flaws, but the laughter must now be muted when Whitmarsh forecasts that follow-up wins, beginning in three weekends' time in Spain, are possible.

"We've got another upgrade package coming through for Valencia. I think we can potentially win there," he said.

Interesting. :)

Valencia is another track that should play to McLaren's strengths, perhaps even more so than Hungary did because of the long straights. I dare say they are the favourites to win again now, in my eyes anyway!
