So we have had 8 races this year. I am wandering whether you people think that the new regulations have improved overtaking this year? I do agree they can run a bit closer but for the massive loss of nice looking cars the overtaking spectacle has not increased by as much to offset the Ugly cars. However there has been some improved overtaking but mostly at the Tilke circuits.

To have overtaking you need a track to suit overtaking. You can't overtake in fast corners like Barcelona, Silverstone and Suzuka are. You can't overtake at street circuits like, Monaco, Valencia and Singapore.

To overtake you need a slowish corner eg slow chicane or hairpin to bunch the cars up, then a straight, to slip stream, then a slow corner preferably a slow chicane or hairpin. thats is how to increase overtaking. tracks that I think are going to be good overtaking tracks are.
[*]Albert Park
[*]Malaysia
[*]China
[*]Bahrain
[*]Turkey
[*]Nurburgring
[*]Hungary
[*]Monza
[*]Abu Dhabi.

Scrap the rest and get good tracks.

Also having said the cars look ugly, they aren't too much different to cars back in early 2000's and certainly look better than any car from last century.

Well it hasnt drastically improved has it and i agree with you about the circuits. But with the cars i thought they were butt ugly but now they have grown on me i prefer them to last year! Especially the front wings.

The ability to follow other cars around corners has definitely improved, but evidently that isn't the problem now!

I think YES.
Wont even go through stats or whatever... but from my perception it definitely has improved (not as much as we'd hoped) but also the pressure the following driver can apply on the leading car has improved. The problem is we have some cars that are just too far ahead of the field...

The cars... I dont like the wings' configuration, it looks disproportionate. But the rest, they look much better without the appendages.

This season's been an interesting experiment... unsuitable for the current 'economic' climate, but it brought light to some unexpected teams, and that helps the overall F1 environment.

To the blind eye, the best moves have been Heikki & Rubbens!

The car being sexier? Are you mad? Or just smoking some great green stuff. you are entitled to your opinion, as everyone has there taste of sexy, as i find my fiancée sexy, you could find her a dog? But com'on, small spoiler? Small cars? I like my cars big and loud!

P.s - I do like my woman chubby and loud! Not disgusting chubby, just a little meaty ;)

I'll give you a million euro for each time you find the word Sexy in my post. And to be honest... dont really care how you like your women and wheter or not she's a fox or a dog. So let me make it simpler for you to understand:

I think this yr's car better looking than last yr's except for the front and rear wings.

Once FIA limited the engine from V10 to V8 aiming to limit the speed of each car in circuit, the truth is that the lap time of today is almost the same as what it was before the year of 2006.
Once FIA fixed the configuration of wings to improve the overtaking, the truth is absolutely that overtaking is not occurring more than the times of the last year's.
Of course, i think wind wings maybe suitable for Formula One cars because Formula One means POWER , BIGGER and LOUDER!!!

It has improved, but only slightly. At least it has allowed us to see plenty of midfield action generated by Hamilton, Alonso and the BMW's.

But like I always keep twittering, the OWT need to do a lot more, they should have just based the car designs on the 1997 specifications including wider cars, and then to increase the effect of the slipstream make the cars "bulkier" and a little less streamlined.

I would also rather see the raised noses ditched in favour of the classic low noses like you got in the 80's and early 90's.

rapped, i hope they can conce

Yup the OWT needs to do more work. But i think we can be somewhat forgiving as the regulations changed drastically, and with so many new variables... they must have had quite a handful. Now that KERS will be scrapped, and with this yr's experience, i hope they can hit the nail on the head for the coming seasons...
