From F1 Live:

After the car won three-quarters of every race so far under the 2009 regulations, Alex Wurz has revealed the secret of the Brawn BGP 001.

At times last year, the team's predecessor Honda had five wind tunnels at its disposal, according to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, as well as a half-billion euro budget.

"The car was taken in three different directions in the wind tunnel," test driver Wurz told News. "Two directions were found to be wrong, so the team could just switch."

Amid the shock of the global economic situation, Honda then pulled out and the Brackley team was rescued by a management buyout headed by Ross Brawn.

"The Brawn is probably the most expensive car with the lowest operating budget ever," the Austrian admitted.

Wurz meanwhile gives Sebastian Vettel ‘ten out of ten’ for dominating last time out at Silverstone, but doubts Red Bull will have it so easily for the remainder of the season.

"I would say that Brawn and Red Bull are at eye-level, and success from now on will depend on the circuits."

But, sure, it's all one big fairy tale.

Either I'm being super-thick tonight or this line doesn't make sense. How can wind tunnel directions be 'wrong'??

My guess would basically be that they thought the 'wrong' directions did not work anywhere near as well as the one that did...

I suppose he thought of development directions, not wind tunnel directions. To be exact, there were tree different philosophies of design. Of course, according to Wurz's statement.

Not about the Honda part but about the fact Red Bull are not going to be as dominant?
If you look at the past races, they were on top form? Then I see that Jenson is the better driver compared to Rubbens? So there in hand Jenson lost something that race? (Silverstone) So did Rubbens! So then something is being lost aero wise? & then you have the facts that budget is at an all time low...But then As Webber was the major gainer from that race! From the majority of the race results behind Massa. So I doubt that Red Bull will have a 1 off, that’s lie!! if Nico got to be second, that’s a sure as hell one off! I think Vettel’s inconsistency will not play into there hands that well, if he was on pole allot he could have a chance, hence if he is pole man at Germany I hope he wins it! But then I also see that Ferrari are catching up, so next week will just be a mine field, who don’t make it through to the Q2 will be playing cat & mouse - mid pack -

Red Bull have, more of a chance of Constructors than drivers?

Vettel will win more races and will probably be the majority holder of ‘Most’ wins.

Webber has a 40% chance of winning IMO

So it is going to be bloody hard for Red Bull/Vettel/Webber to end the season with more wins than Brawn/Button.
Someone said they could end up like that at the end of the year.

It'll be a gargantuan battle of car designers between Red Bull and Brawn with Newey maybe having an edge since there's no testing and he's darn good at the drawing board and capable of adding updates that work right out of the box (see Silverstone updates).

Newey is a genius, i think Red Bull may fly away with this one
