"Flavio Briatore wants to create a new series and decide everything," the 78-year-old, who owns a British football club with the Renault boss, said.

"Luca di Montezemolo has a problem with the FIA President. With John Howett, I wonder: what does he want? I'm not even sure he knows himself," Ecclestone charged.

"Everyone else just wants it all to stop so they can concentrate on the sport once again."

Asked why the standoff continues even though the two warring sides seem basically agreed about drastic cost-cutting, Ecclestone explains: "Because it's not about that, it's about power."

The last statement coming from you BE is a bit rich

Well, I agree with him. No doubt, even if he is a hypocrite.
But things are a bit backwards. The FIA are clearly the power hungry lot. FOTA have always emphasised that would rather have an agreed solution rather than a break-away series.

The fact is, the sport is being governed very poorly. Too many cooks are spoiling the broth.

I believe that Ecclestone has brought all this budget cap BS about because of his greed playing the FIA and teams against each other. A wholesale change is required on all sides, Mosley needs to be forced to step down instead of being allowed to stand again for president, Ecclestone needs to sit in his luxury retirement villa watching races on TV. I don't want the teams to be running F1 either; but Mosley have proved he doesn't have the courage of his convictions, move aside for someone that does.

Now now, be fair.

Bernie only cares about money. Power is Max's fetish.
