Lebenon had a pro western election and in the upcomming Iranian elections it looks like millions are comming out to vote against the current administration. Any idea on what that all means and ramifications?

Any idea on what that all means and ramifications?

We face the frankly preposterous prospect of their being more extremists in power in Europe than in the Middle East.

I'm just pointing out that some people in the UK (Who ought to be ashamed) elected a couple of Nazis this week at the same approximate time as the Middle East is managing to oust some of the extremists from their own governance.

Hmmmm OK... I guess I might have open up a can of worms.. Maybe politics shouldn't be discussed on this forum (although FIA is sure political).. I think people want to be able to have a choice of who the put in power. I was just contemplating what we see as a shift in different countries ideology.

Not to take anything from your point jensonb

Not really a surprise to learn the election was rigged. Hopefully, those rioting on the streets at the moment will be sufficient to force a change in the status quo.

I've seen the video of Neda. People die everyday of horrible crimes by citizens and governments. This didn't happen in my country or to somebody I know. However the imagery of that happening to anyone is truly sobering and heart sinking. I hope Iran does the right thing, and does not fall further into turmoil and instability. Whatever the case, my thoughts are with her family.
