:(

Bad bad bad news. We can't keep losing big names like this.

And EwmanM is going to be crushed!

yup, didnt see that one comming either and its not just rumour either its comming from the main man himself, so even if they have not pulled out yet they must be seriously thinking about it before going public with a statement like this

:bs:

they just got Mega Fon as sponsor

The team did, sure. But Renault could potentially sell the team with all the Sponsorship intact, and just become an engine supplier. That is, admittedly, unlikely given the economic climate and the size of their operation.

Maybe USF1 could buy them out

Possibly, but I think they could only buy the assets, They already (Or will soon anyway) have an entry for the Championship.

Yeah but is this just related to the ongoing FOTA/FIA war or not....?

If we lost Renault it'd be a shame, it always is to lose a former championship winning team (especially as they won not long ago!).

It'll be sad to see Manufacturers like Renault disappear but as I have said numerous times in the past; manufacturers are not "racers"; they are in it for the commercial profitability of the brand and when it is no longer profitable for the manufacturer they will pull out of F1. It was the same when manufacturers just supplied engines; they came and went; came and went. It's nothing new; if they do indeed leave F1 they may well be back in five years if market conditions improve. I personally don't believe that people buy Renault's based on racing pedigree. It's not like it's a sports car brand like Ferrari; for the most part Renault make family cars, which bare little resemblance to F1 cars!

People will probably take the mick out of USF1 being "an all-American team from Oxfordshire, England".

I don't like to see a preponderance of manufacturers as teams anyway. I like them as works engine suppliers. I like them to supply only one team each and the teams that don't have works deals buying them from suppliers like Hart and Yamaha, Cosworth, etc. Of course that causes 2 tiers of performance to occur so I can see a bit of fiddling with that necessary. The above post about these guys coming and going is right. I bet if they leave they'll be back at some point as an engine works partner. They were before, and very successful, and left the sport, and came back as a team. Same for Honda, same for BMW but without the gap. Even Ford did it. I'd like to see Toyota do it, funnelling all their resources on Williams.
I welcome the renaissance of the garagiste!
let's take a mental trip back and trace the lineage of this team back to Toleman which is where the great Ayrton Senna Staked his claim.

Couldn't it be termed 'possibly leaving' instead of 'pulling out', the thought makes me shudder :D ?!
