"The FIA believes that the five manufacturers involved in Formula One have left themselves open to a serious legal challenge on anti-trust grounds after they signed an agreement following the Monaco Grand Prix.
If the arrangement is deemed to be a cartel, it could lead to huge fines – and at least in theory leave team bosses facing jail terms under British law.
This latest twist comes as tensions rise in the battle of wills between the FOTA teams and the FIA as Friday’s deadline for publication of the entry list approaches. On Monday Max Mosley sent all the teams a letter, urging them to make entries unconditional and then proceed to talk about future rules once the list has been fixed."
