The official word on what teams will race next year is due on the 12th, I just wanted to hear some of your predictions as to which of the new teams will be accepted. I read somewhere that the FIA will only allow for a maximum of 13 teams, anyone know if this is accurate? If that is correct, there are only spots for 3 new teams out of a large pot of hopefuls, so who stands the best chance?

Mclaren *
Ferrari *
Bmw Sauber *
Renault *
Toro Rosso *
Red Bull *
Toyota *
Brawn *
Williams
Force India
Lola
Prodrive
USF1

*Subject to blah blah blah

That's how it will be in a normal world... but Max will probably issue it differently....

Lotus might have a better chance than Lola i think.

I think USF1 are practically already in for next season as their entry was confirmed a while ago, then the next best chance I'd say would fall to Lola.

3 from USF1, Litespeed/Lotus, Lola, Superfund (or whatever they're called) and Prodrive. :)

I say 3, that's assuming no current teams pull out or they increase grid space to 28/30 cars or anything like that.

Assuming that FOTA and the FIA find a common ground and join unconditionally, I would definitely say USGPE because Max/Bernie want an American team in F1, Pro-Drive because they had already been previously accepted in 2008 and a probably one of the teams bringing back familiar names like Lotus, Brabham or March!

Swop around Prodrive and Lola i'd say

The aston martin name would be a real sweeterner for the FIA who is about to loose alot of Manufacturors.

I ask myself this question: IF the FOTA teams won't accept a cap and the series needs them, then which of the new entries are willing to race without a cap??? I think USF1 is the only new team that'll make the grid next year. The current teams will all be back.

Just my uneducated 2¢

If the cap doesn't happen; I believe that Pro-Drive will still be on the grid for next season if they can get cheap parts from McLaren; they only need to build a chassis probably with some help from passing McLaren technical gurus. Agreed on USGPE being on the 2010 grid regardless of the cap, USGPE have been in the pipeline for years!

Yeah i agree that they'd edge Lola if it came to those two; what i meant though is that i think 3 of the teams i've listed there would almost definitely be the new teams, over those like Campos, N.Technology etc etc
