SPEED is giving coverage for the next couple of GP's to Fox, and apparently whether they air it live depends from local station to the next, and it's airing at 3pm local time, about 7 hours after the actual race. I mean, at least its something, but knowing that it isn't live throughout the entire time watching it might just get to me and I might spoil the results for myself midway. :(

Speed is owned by Fox (or its owner) and it's presumably a good thing to have a few races air on regular broadcast that every American can get (rather than the cable-only Speed channel). It would defeat the purpose of broadcasting the race live at that early time - nobody other than F1 fans would watch it, so that's why they tape-delay it. It's annoying I know and I will shun this forum and other websites until I've watched the race...

At least it's gonna be the same Speed crew and not a bunch of dufuses like when NBC (or was it ABC?) had a few races a few years ago...

I remember DD and I complaining about this last year. I like it for the same reasons DD stated because it brings in new fans, hell, some of my friends who know nothing about racing are going to watch it. I still check the results before the race because I have to know, but the thing that bothers me are no interviews for the 2nd and 3rd place drivers...

I actually made the effort to get up at 7am to watch the race live; I turn on the TV and find a caption at the bottom of the screen saying that it's on later at 2pm local time on Fox. To say I'm annoyed is an understatement because I am not going to be home this afternoon to watch the race as I have plans with my family. Why can't they show the race live on Speed and show a re-run later on Fox for the floating and new viewers like ITV did back when I lived in the United Kingdom. In my opinion; this is counter productive for the future of F1 in the US as avoiding the result for seven hours is going to be hard! And real F1 fans won't want to wait that time to find out the result, my estimation of US F1 coverage has just dropped massively just days after praising just days ago! :banghead:

Could Fox not do what ITV used to do?: show the race live and then a re-run later on. That would cover all bases.

I think they covered some other sports stuff at that time.

At least Speed announced it several times at the end of P and Q that Fox was going to air the race delayed.
