Now he's going to be a steward

F1live:
A new Formula One steward will make his debut at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

It has emerged that Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the United Arab Emirates' automobile club President and FIA vice President for sport, will be one of the three officials on duty at the Istanbul Park circuit.

He is the first Arab to fulfil the stewarding role, and will reprise the task later this season in Hungary.

"This is a new responsibility and something that cannot be taken lightly," said Ben Sulayem, who in April crashed Renault's Formula One car in a demonstration.

I would like to see the race stewards as former drivers. I mean ast they know what it is like in the cockpit and will have been in similar situations on the racetrack.

Maybe he'll get confused by the fact that Istanbul Park is an anti-clockwise circuit and black flag all the drivers for 'going the wrong way'?

at this rate pretty much anyone who can turn a wheel is qualified to be a steward. Even if the can't keep the wheel straight and avoid crashing a million pound f1 car
