F1Live:
March Racing Organisation has submitted an entry to the FIA to participate in the 2010 championship.

March Engineering was originally formed in 1969 by Max Mosley, Alan Rees, Graham Coaker and Robin Herd and sold to Akira Akagi in 1989 to run under Leyton House branding. The team reverted to the March name in 1992 with Andrew Fitton taking over ahead of the teams closure.

Fitton retains the rights to the March name and made his application to the FIA early this week, receiving confirmation of his entry on Thursday.

Along with Lola, Prodrive and USF1, MarchF1 has made their entry ahead of the deadline still unsure to what rules they will run in 2010 and await the publication on the 2010 entry list in July 12th.

Can you say preferential treatment MM? :whip:

It's a shame we won't see it return with it's classic Sky Blue Leyton House livery, but it will be interesting to see how the FIA choose the teams to accept into the 2010 Championship.

I'd assume a logical decision would be made regarding the racing experience of the team, and financial security of the team. In which case I'd expect USF1, Lola and ProDrive to be accepted. But then again, this is the FIA we're talking about here.... :\

So now we're up to 30 cars, potentially... i've also heard that Litespeed may have entered (in conjunction with MGI) too, which would give us 32 cars!

And we have seen the FIA accept an entry for ProDrive before... and then fail to turn up for the 2008 season...

Bring back Pre-qualifying. :yes::yes:

If there's not enough garages, give the teams a bunch of straws and the ones with the shortest have to use a patch of lawn next to the garages, that's what Jordan were given as a "garage" for the 1991 Mexican GP.

That's where McLaren should have gone after last year's pit garage location fiasco. :hehe:

I can't see pre-quali come back. I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to sponsor a team if there was a risk of it not actually racing in the current financial climate. And there may also be the issue of sacrificing garage space for 2/4 cars that are only going to participate on Friday. To be honest, I dont understand the logic of limiting cars on the grid to 26. Many other forms of motorsport function perfectly with 30+. I'd much rather see all cars that apply compete, but with a return to the 107% rule. say... after Friday, any cars within 107% of the fastest time are entered into qualifying. It seems that under these regulations, standard engines and tyres with heavier restrictions on aero, that even the slowest cars are comfortably within 105% and I'd imagine that would hold pretty true for the new teams.

I find it hard to believe that having 30 cars is anymore dangerous than 26, assuming there arent any snail-slow cars out there.

So essentially this is a team with absolutely no infrastructure in place to operate an F1 team.... heh, this could be interesting.

When Max has fully brought the teams to heel, and reveals his true plans for the future of F1, we'll find out that all teams will be starting anew from scratch.

The very slow backmarkers are one of the reasons, yes, for capping the pinnacle of motorsports at 26 cars - also to maintain a certain level of elite and exclusivity to the brand F1. The other (as explained in another thread) is the availability of pits. And as you stated, who'd want to sponsor a team that more often than not can't even make the grid?

Dont know if you read this already...

Aston Martin is to enter F1 from 2012 as a fully-fledged manufacturer entrant, according to a report in Autocar magazine. The company will put its name on a new F1 team to be launched by Prodrive. The new F1 team announced will run as Prodrive in 2010, before being rebranding as Aston Martin in 2012. Aston Martin’s Prodrive-run sportscar racing programmes will continue. It is expected that the Prodrive team will get much assistance from McLaren Racing and will almost certainly use Mercedes-Benz engines. The cars will be built at Prodrive's Banbury factory. The team is understood to have picked up two big sponsors in the Middle East.

Oh right, March
Mosley, Akagi, Rees, Coaker Herd
Can't believe that I actually spotted that :hehe:

Anyways, of all the entries. We already know USF1 have a grid position next year. They're the only team with an actual car penned right now, not forgetting that backing they have and the american audience they may bring with them. Max and Bernie will see this cash cow a mile away.

Next to that, Prodrive, and Lola are the two teams that have the best opportunity in F1. They have proven track records, and the facilities to go racing next year. Teams like Campos won't be getting through. Litespeed may have Gascoyne on-board, but that may not be enough. They're an F3 team, up against constructors like Prodrive and Lola, and they've not got much chance lets be honest.

Pre-quali will not come back. It's already been confirmed. The FIA have stated that the teams will be chosen.
