Ferrari and the rest of the teams in the Formula One Teams' Association (Fota) have submitted conditional entries for the 2010 championship.

Williams announced on Monday that they intend to enter next season's campaign.

McLaren, BMW Sauber, Toyota, Renault, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso and Brawn GP have now all followed suit.

The move would appear to bring an end to the recent row with the sport's governing body, the FIA, over the voluntary budget cap.

A statement on behalf of Fota said: "Fota confirms all its members' long-term commitment to be involved in the FIA Formula One World Championship.

"[It] has unanimously agreed further and significant actions to substantially reduce the costs of competing in the championship in the next three years."

Guess I was right. That means we already have thirteen teams who have lodged entries with another two or three possible applicants. I wonder who will end up being the final thirteen teams?

FOTA should be (secretly) campaigning to replace MM - that's their best chance to gain better control over their fate and have a say about budget caps, etc.

ok, so if understand it correctly, there are 3 further spaces on the grid right?

USGP, Prodrive and Lola have all entered does this mean any additional teams wouldn't get in?

They have submitted entries. No team has been given a place in next year's championship. More teams may submit entries, but only thirteen will be selected.

Campos and Lightspeed lodged an entry as well, so 5 more teams with only 3 extra spaces, meaning the FIA will have to go through a selection process unless a couple of the newbies blink and withdraw b/c the budget cap will be set at 100m instead of 45m...

The 10 FOTA teams will be granted a spot regardless - they actually put that as a condition ('All FOTA teams’ entries for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship have been submitted today on the understanding that (a) all FOTA teams will be permitted to compete during the 2010 Formula One Season on an identical regulatory basis and (b) that they may only be accepted as a whole.')

Interesting:
The ‘conditional entries’ filed today could of course be simply rejected by the FIA and should that happen, FOTA can either seek further compromises, agree to the published regulations or in a worst case scenario – simply leave the sport.

FOTA teams submit F1 entries for 2010

By Pablo Elizalde Friday, May 29th 2009, 13:35 GMT

All the current Formula 1 teams have submitted their entries to the FIA for the 2010 championship, FOTA confirmed on Friday.

The Formula One Teams' Association said, however, that their entries were conditional on a new Concorde Agreement being signed by all parties before 12th June.

"The renewal of the Concorde Agreement will provide security for the future of the sport by binding all parties in a formal relationship that will ensure stability via sound governance," said FOTA in a statement.

The teams' body also said that the entries were conditional on the regulations being based on 2009 rules, "identical for all competitors and amended in accordance with proposals that FOTA has submitted to the FIA."

"All FOTA teams' entries for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship have been submitted today on the understanding that (a) all FOTA teams will be permitted to compete during the 2010 Formula One season on an identical regulatory basis and (b) that they may only be accepted as a whole," added the statement.

"All FOTA teams now look forward with optimism to collaborating proactively and productively with the FIA, with a view to establishing a solid foundation on which the future of a healthy and successful Formula One can be built, providing lasting stability and sound governance."

The FIA announced earlier this year the introduction of a budget cap system from the 2010 season.

Those teams adhering to the system would get greater technical freedom, something that most FOTA teams have spoken against.

At least four of the current teams have threatened to withdraw from the sport if the two-tier system came into play next year.

The window to submit entries for 2010 closes today.

I would love to see what's on that new concorde agreement... also it seems (under the wording above) that a 40m cap could just be forced onto the teams and there'd be nothing they could do about it!

First of all I don't expect anyone to agree with my following comments; but differences of opinion is what makes the world go round!

I don't back Max Mosley on many things but on this issue I back him 100%. FOTA have been nothing but a disruptive influence since it were formed. If anything I believe that FOTA needs to be disbanded for the best interests of the sport. What happens at the end of the 2010 season when the €45 cap comes into force; will the FOTA teams start to moan again about the cap and threaten to leave the sport? Luca di Montezemolo and John Howett (representing the two biggest budget teams) will never be happy with anything less than self governance by FOTA; although Howett's Toyota team are *probably* not going to be on the grid next season anyway. In my opinion if the FIA accept this deal; it sends a message out to FOTA that they can dictate what happens in the sport; as for self governance; FOTA can't even decide what colour the sky is half the time! The last few seasons of F1 have been spent as much in the courtroom as on track; does anyone think this is good for the sport? I have the opinion that the big budget teams are like petulant children that throw a tantrum when they don't get their own way; self governance = the end of F1! (in my opinion).

I belive Fota is needed simply because Mosley and Ecclestone can come out with some really stupid ideas.

You say FOTA has been disruptive, yet without them we'd have that crap medal system in place, would you really prefer that over points?

Mosleys "world engine" is again another stupid idea that FOTA seams to have stopped.

And the Idea of a two teir system, do you really think that will be a good idea?

again without fota that would be in place and F1 would be terrible next year.
