F1live:
Bernie Ecclestone on Friday revealed he has commenced negotiations with the potential promoters of an Argentinean Grand Prix.

The South American country, with a race in the capital Buenos Aires, was last on the calendar in 1998.

"I'm talking to people in Argentina. We've just started talking," the F1 Chief Executive said in Monaco.

An Argentine government representative also confirmed the news.

"Yes, we are trying to bring Formula One," the official said in the newspaper Critica, which reported that the venue would most likely be a street circuit.

Humorously, Ecclestone was also asked if he was ‘optimistic’ after the FOTA meeting on Friday, answering that he was "optimistic that there will be more meetings."

Would be good if they can put together a race that conforms with all the regulations...

Please :banghead: Not another street circuit. PLEASE!!!

Monaco is great, because it's unique. Valencia is pure crap on a stick. It's more like a concrete permanent race track. An awful awful track that proved as boring as its looks last year. Singapore is a bit better, but it's helped the whole night factor.

In my opinion we only need two street circuits. Monaco and Singapore do fine right now. Street circuits unfortunately usually involve being unable to overtake and provide oh so boring races. I'd rather see another high speed track like Monza on the calendar right now, with Montreal gone.

Why can't they go back the circuit they used back in 1998? Oh wait no need to answer that, the excuse will be made out of these words;

The, facilities, crap, and, outdated, are

Make up the sentence out of the above words and you will win a special prize.

I've no problems with a Grand Prix in Argentina, so long as the track is up to standard. Another street circuit is completely unacceptable. This is another issue FOTA needs to address.

I can only think of four street circuits that should go on the Formula One calendar and we're running at three of those this year anyway. I didn't mind the circuit they used back in 1998, with some upgrades that would be fine.

Well, actually, it's technically three, but Montreal has street circuit qualities (the walls being close together). So no, not Macau.

I want to see Macau

would be so boring to watch though, no overtaking except once a lap, which is corner 2/3 (if you count the kink on the straight as a turn).

plus i think macau only gets the chance to have 1 race a year, which at the moment is claimed by the WTCC.

But without any of the things that make Monaco brilliant...
