Probably not the future for Britain but anywhere with a half - decent climate, why not?

well if theres massive climate change in the future Britain might well be in the right place for such a stadium :D

It's an awesome idea, and I'm all for improving our environment whilst reducing our reliance on fossil fuels - however, Global Warming (or the more convenient 'Climate Change') is nothing more than a scam, an opportunity to increase taxes, an excuse to look down upon developing (and more competitive) Countries, and a scare story to keep the population under control...

Well the climates have definitely changed but it is most likely due to certain patterns which have happened over and over again for many many moon's. Also I remember reading a report that the hole in the earths ozone layer has actually decreased in size so I must agree with you that it seem's to be nothing more than a 'scare tactic'.

there's no doubt the governments of the world are seeing climate change as another thing to tax but I don't think it's all a convenient lie, it is occuring at an unnatural rate

I believe it's a scam too, if Global Warming did exist then why don't we have massive heatwaves on the scale of summer 1976 every year? Instead it just rains all the time. :P

I honestly thought people on here were a little more astute. I'm disappointed

Quit moaning on about climate change. In my opinion the real problem is the fact that fossil fuels will run out. So yes, solar stadiums FTW.

Abu Dhabi could've done this. I mean they get so much sun over there, and the buildings there already look like solar panels anyway.

I have no problem with the stadium, for the stadium owners they would save a lot of money through being able to generate their own electricity thanks to the solar panels, and then from then on selling the solar power when not used.

The climate of Western and Northern Europe is warmer than it would otherwise be because of the North Atlantic drift, one of the branches of the Gulf Stream. Changes in global climate may change salinities in the oceans and thus, change flowing patterns. Therefore, if it happens that the Gulf Stream gets diverted and doesn't hit Europe anymore, you could see a temperature drop there!
