Mclaren and Ferrari are having problems with their cars, there just not performing right and are struggling for points. The thing is, they both are running KERS, and whatacks up my theory is look who is flying high at the top, all he cars that arent running KERS. I know they give the extra 80bhp but is the extra 30kg worth it.

Ferrari have made massive steps forward.
If Massa hadn't been running out of fuel he would have been 4th in Spain, and if Raikkonen hadn't blundered in Qually and then had a failure he would have been strong too.

Mclaren's KERS is fantastic and actually helps mask some of the car's problems.

ye but the thing is, the mclaren and the brawn car are bascially the same spec, yet there getting a lot better times and wins. But that may just be tactics etc. I know the chassis are different but i would have liked to see the testing of the car without the KERS.
Sorry about the Ferrari comment, they have actually improved a hell of a lot.

Well no Mclaren and Brawn are entirely different cars bar their Mercedes Engine. I tell you if Mclaren ran without KERS going on previous races they would have been no where. Mind you I expect they will have improved by Turkey - this weekend isn't the best race to judge.

True but the thing is Mclaren have to step up a gear to get a Chamionship wininning car, i mean they say they havent "unlocked the potential of the car", but what do you reckon the problem may be?

Lack of aero grip?
Balance is poor too it seems
#119802
True, there saying not too much grip at the back, u rekon they could turn this season around and get this title?

Not a chance in hell of the title.
Good chance of a strong end to the season. Possibly like Renault last year.
I'd say it won't take Mclaren long to bounce back, 2010... if they are still in F1?
#119814
yepp, i fort tht, they have shown no threat in leaving that i have seen so, hopefully they stay in, but every1 has expected sooo much from MClaren this season and it has jus not happened

Happens in F1 i'm affraid, but they'll bounce back.

Welcome to the forum btw :wavey:

KERS could be the cause of the problems from the point of view of them dedicating too much time and resources to getting it right pre-season but it is a basic failure to produce an aerodynamic package that best exploits the new rules that has let McLaren and Ferrari down. I feel also that McLaren have produced a basic dog of a chassis too while Ferrari seem to have quite a nimble, well balanced car, they don't have any grip in mid-high speed corners

I have read most of these rules but is there anywhere were i can find all of them?
