New to F1, looking for some good reading regarding F1, it's history, how the cars have changed, how the tracks have changed.
I'm looking more for the technical aspect of how the cars have evolved but really any good historical reading is interesting for me.

Pictures are nice but not necessary. It doesn't even need to be fully up to date. Just accurate.

Are there any good books that cover the history of F1?

Thanks,

Jeff

"The Science of Formula 1 Design" is your technical know how book & "50 years of formula one" will give you the history of F1 from 1950 to 2000, the rest of f1 history you should be able to find out about online through the official website or by joining in on the forums. :D

I own both books so they come with my personal recommendation.

I've been looking around to try and find some good books on F1 history but I'm struggling to find any definitive recommendations. Does anyone know of any good ones to start with? I'm interested in the general history of F1 and also individual driver biographies (with no particular preference for any driver). Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Amanda

EDIT: I've just noticed there's a thread on this only a few posts down. I'll make sure to check properly in future before I create a thread, sorry for the duplicate.

I'd recommend Sid Watkin's books. They aren't history per se but do give a really interesting insight into the evolution of safety in Formula One over the years.

Depends how basic you want to go.

These are two books that may help you get the jist. I'd recommend you get an idea of the brief history before examining further:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unofficial-Form ... 677&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Formula-Racing- ... 677&sr=1-6

I mean even if you try any bookseller on the net and type Formula One,you get tons of choices.

Thanks for the links. I've been watching for a good few years now so I know a lot of general F1 history, mostly through watching documentaries and old race clips, and reading through websites. However the more I find the more I want to know. At the moment I'd say I'm an intermediate, by no means a novice but far from an expert, although I'll happily read books aimed at any level provided they're accurate, well written and interesting.

I know I'm kind of resurrecting an old thread here, but just spotted it for the first time. I'd highly recommend Alex Zanardi's Autobiography. It gives a different slant to his time in F1 that is quite in depth. It is also rather inspirational to read about the aftermath of his accident and how he coped and progressed.

I've just started reading "Williams" by Maurice Hamilton.
