I read this on a Williams forum and it's got me quite excited somehow...

Senna confirms F1 remains goal for 2009
DTM offer declined to focus on possible F1 move

Bruno Senna has confirmed suggestions that his goal is to enter Formula One perhaps as soon as this season.

The 25-year-old Brazilian last week turned down Mercedes-Benz's offer of a 2009 seat in the German touring car series DTM.

German news agency SID reports that the reason for the snub is that Norbert Haug could not guarantee the 2008 GP2 runner-up a Formula One seat for 2010.

It is claimed that Senna is now holding out for a drive this year, as names including Giancarlo Fisichella, Kazuki Nakajima, Sebastien Bourdais and Nelson Piquet come under increasing pressure to perform.

"Formula one is the goal, which is subordinate to everything else this year," said Senna, whose uncle Ayrton died during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

SID reports that his biggest hope of a vacant cockpit this year is for the one currently occupied by his countryman Rubens Barrichello.

"Bernie (Ecclestone) told me that I should not too tightly commit myself (outside of F1)," Senna admitted.

And Bernie apparently is prepared to front some money just to get Senna in. Sir Frank being the astute business man he is will see that Bernie's money could go towards the expense of having to pay for Williams' Toyota engines if Nakajima is ditched.

For once Bernie might do something worthwhile. Come on Frank, you know you want to...

Quite clearly Bernie realises how much money it could bring to the sport by having the name Senna in it again. I still think he should of done another year in GP2 so he could win the title build his confidence and improve his race craft.

I heard about he going to STR or Force India...and think it would be better because he would have a lot less pressure on him in his debut...Williams in his second year sounds better for me...

About Piquet, I heard that Di Grassi may replace him...

I reckon it would be either him or Grosjean. I don't think Senna would want to go to Renault and be Alonso's number 2. And somehow I can't see Flavio liking the prospect of taking on Senna...

Senna is a good prospect, but not up to standard at the moment. Sadly, it looks as though money will talk.

Yes, I agree...

And I think that Grosjean is the most likely to replace Piquet as well...Di Grassi can wait a little bit more =p

If Buemi can get a Toro Rosso into the top 10 imagine what Senna could do with the FW31.

Ross Brawn was very impressed with him in the November test and he got to grips with one of the worst cars of 2008 quite quickly. He was something like 1.5 seconds quicker than Di Grassi.

I still believe every word of what Ayrton said about Bruno, "If you think I'm good wait until you see Bruno."

:ahahah::ahahah::ahahah::ahahah:

I'd say

His Chances of a Drive 2009 are as follows in my opinion.

Williams - Good chance to replace Nakajima and they owe it to the senna family somwhat i think if they started to look for a driver Senna would be high on their list and his mum :P would make a phone call...

Renault - Reasonable Chance here but as others have mentioned Di Grassi would prob get the seat and Senna might spark Alonsos fear of drivers with Yellow Helmets. :P

Force India - Fisi? doubt it tho not mid season

Torro Rosso
- Seb Boudrais - hes doing O.K but Buemi is doing quiet a bit better.

Mclaren - To replace hekki he was a real let down in Malaysia spinning off in the dry on the 1st lap. Small possiblity but unlikely after he out did LH

Brawn - Rubens nah doubt it not when hes's going and out qualifying jenson with more fuel he was abit unlucky in Malaysia so i would be really suprised to see it.

Red Bull
- To replace Webber, doubt it he would go to Torro rosso 1st to swop with Buemi.

Toyota - To swop with either driver - extremely unlikely

BMW
- Nope.

Ferrari - No chance.

I really think Senna would do well in F1 i've bought into the Hype and the guy has hardly raced at all F3, and two seasons of Gp2 and yet came 2nd (would of won if it wasn't for the FIA and a dog perhaps)

In F1 testing he came within 0.3 sec of Jensons time in car he'd never been in when Jenson had been driving the car for full season.

There's two drivers in F1 that i don't really feel deserve their place Nakajima and Piquet. And Senna does deserve a chance.

Yeah, but I remember him being around three seconds slower than Alex Wurz, of all drivers. Not exactly good for your reputation :P

Well, it's testing for you, I think Wurz was running 2009 bits if I remember rightly. Senna's time did come within 0.3 of Button though like Longbow said.

Longbow - I really think he could have easily beaten Pantano if dogs, dodgy FIA stewards and messy pit-work didn't intervene. His wins at Monaco and Silverstone in the wet last year were classy performances.

Having said that, if Di Grassi hadn't missed the first three events (six races) he would have blown both Pantano and Senna away. The very fact that, despite having a six-race defecit, he finished only one point behind Senna is pretty impressive.

And did Senna and Di Grassi not test the 2009 parts?
