Alonso has already voiced concerns about Bridgestone electing to bring a very soft tire compound to Shanghai as it is an abrasive circuit. I noticed in practice last night how much the soft tires were graining and how quickly! It was occurring after just a handful of laps and after 5 or so laps, pieces of tire could be seen literally falling off!

Could be an issue for teams and drivers that are working their tires quite hard as guys who do well on the hards may just fade once thew switch to the softs

I really like the super soft tyre concept, it adds a nice twist to race strategy...

Modern Formula One drivers are doom mongers. I wouldn't take Alonso's tale of death and destruction too seriously.

 They all do it if a lot of the stuff DC said came true then there would be a lot less F1 drivers on the grid.

I would be watching Massa as he was destroying the medium in both practises so god knows what he will be like on the super soft.

Ferrari were the best with tyres last year, but this year. In Oz they're probelms were much worse than most.
But at least Luca Baldisseri is gone. This weekend he'd probably stick both Ferrari's on 3 stops and end up ruining another weekend for both drivers.

I think the general strategy is going to be, decent first stint, long middle stint, very short last stint. Maybe a few will 3 stop.

Should make for good racing then. With drivers maybe making that extra push in the last stint.

come on chris.... I can see hamilton has really done it where you concerned and I dont blame you for the stand you taking... but surely you can allow Alonso ( really the best driver if F1 at the moment) some leeway coz I believe he has a point with his current moaning of the tires. it does make them look like idiots when they have to no grip after a few laps. well I dont care hamilton looking like a idiot coz with all his crap he sortof earned that right.... but not poor Alonso ??

Yeah. I can't see using the softs at the start paying off like it did for some in Melbourne, chances of a Safety Car are pretty rare in China... in fact, i can only remember it coming out once ('05 and SOMEONE span behind it :hehe: ).
