The jury reached a partial verdict Thursday in Helio Castroneves tax evasion trial, but remain deadlocked on 5 of the 7 counts against the two-time Indy winner

On the fifth day of deliberation in Miami Federal Court, jurors informed US District Judge Donald Graham they were unanimous on counts five and six with regards to Castroneves’ employment with Team Penske in 2002 and 2003

But the seven women and five men were deadlocked on the other five counts, including the conspiracy charge to hide revenue, and Judge Graham asked them to go back and try to come to a unanimous conclusion on the undecided counts.

Indy driver Castroneves acquitted in tax case
MIAMI (AP) — A jury has acquitted Indy race car driver Helio Castroneves of tax evasion but hung on a count of conspiracy.

Jurors deliberated for six days before reaching their verdict on Friday.

Castroneves has twice won the Indianapolis 500 winner, and was also champ of TV's "Dancing With The Stars" in 2007. His sister and business manager, Katiucia Castroneves, was also acquitted on the tax evasion counts and the jury also hung on the conspiracy count. His Michigan lawyer, Alan Miller, was acquitted on the conspiracy count and three counts of tax evasion.

The three were accused of conspiring to evade millions in taxes over a five-year period. They had faced up to six years in prison.

Nice guy. And good dancer :D i was very surprised when i saw his 1st dance. Me and my wife knew he would win it. I guess its the latin stuff....

Better yet, from the looks of his times, he's competitive.

Oh man its going to be a great race tomorrow. Power has been impressive (and my choice for the win ) all weekend as with Wilson, and Franchitti. I was really impressed today with Matos, Viso, and Conway was looking good all Friday so I dont know what happened to him. I

I havent seen the F1 qualy because I am so tired when we get home at my cousins house, but I will try to stay awake for the F1 race.

2 drivers today really made me fans of theirs. Briscoe, and Dixon are true gentlemen and I really appreciate it when they stopped to sign autographs for our group. Franchitti on the other hand, I guess, just doesnt like to be bothered. Will Power is a nice fella too, but I wasnt able to get his signature because I forgot my sharpie :(

The IRL cars, I must admit, sound pretty awesome. Honda must have tweaked the engine over the winter because they used to sound like poo. Dallara must have tweaked the chassis too, because last year the car was a complete dog in the corners.

Damn I forgot the Indy Car series had started, what was the race like on sunday? Where did Danica finish? I see she qualified badly, but she'd be still better than Nakajima and Piquet right now. :hehe:

She did do well actually. She has to thank Michael's pit strategy, and the SC coming out shortly after for position though. But she did drive superbly considering she qualified like poo, she even caught up to Dario for a couple of laps. I was really disappointed with Power though, he wasnt right on Dario's arse on the restarts and didnt show the raw pace he had in qually. Briscoe running into the back of Dixon was pretty funny, as it happened right in front of me and I saw the whole thing!

I hope Matos wins a race this year, he qualified really well!
