Considered by many Fangio's Masterpiece, the 1957 German Gran Prix was spectacular.

Before the race start, the leaderboard situation was :

1. Juan Manuel Fangio 25 pts

2. Luigi Musso 13 pts

3. Tony Brooks 10 pts

4. Sam Hanks 8 pts

5. Jim Rathmann 7 pts

6. Mike Hawthorn 7 pts

7. Striling Moss 6 pts

8. Jean Behra 6 pts

Fangio started on pole position, but Hawthorn took the leader, being folowed until lap 2, when Fangio with his Maserati overtook Hawthorn.

Fangio was leading until lap 11, when he got a flat tire, so he had to stop at boxes.

But at that time, these stops did not take 10 seconds, but something about 1 minute!

Then Fangio was third place, behind Collins and Hawthorn, both driving for Ferrari.

Then...The Show starts !

Fangio started his chase for his adversaries, whereas if he won that GP, the championship would be over.

So, at lap 15, the two first positions change each other:1°Hawthorn, 2° Collins.

In a crazy rhythm, Fangio decrased the lap record of the circuit in something about 20 (TWENTY!) SECONDS !! Ai Caramba !!

At Lap 20, Fangio were already close to the 2 Ferraris and overtook them in this lap, wich were the fastest lap of the race and remained the best lap of circuit for a long time.

If we analyze the time of the fastest lap and compare it to the second fastest lap we can note a difference of 46.400 seconds
