I don't really think many of you people speak portuguese...anyways

For those who speak portuguese...check this video :
http://globoesporte.globo.com/Esportes/ ... OS+PE.html

For those who don't speak...Ill translate the main points:

Question: Rubens, how do you place Brawn if comparing with other teams in a qualifying and racing simulation ?

RB - I think the best comparation is made in a racing simulation, because I don't think Ferrari made qualifying simulation. I don't think they've tried as fastest as possible...Actually...the 6 years I've been there we've never tried that, because they've never wanted to show "all cards". We (BGP) didn't want to(quali. simul.) as well, but we had to, after all...the drivers "doing nothing" for 4 months asks for "protocol changes".
So it's very important to remind that common fuel tank has about 90KG of gasoline, each 10kg means about 0.3s ~ 0.4s so it's very common to see a bad car finish the tests at first place, because it can happens...some car runs with 10 kg of gasoline and other one with 60/40/50 Kg whatever...
So there's that question...Is brawn running weightless just to appears...I can honestly say : NOT. because it would be useless...What we really wanted was to check the running kilometers the car could run...to check car's reliability and improve some points. The car is really fast!
But Ferrari is really fast...well...I couldn't realize yet the other teams that will be on top. In my opinion Toyota haven't shown "all its cards"...BMW got some fuel out somedays...In my opnion these are the stongers...And renault appearing once in a while...Alonso himself said Renault is behind..but he, being an extraordinary driver, could be on top...but I still think that Renault is a step behind...
Williams is doing good on Rosberg's hands..at least running in Qualifying rhythm...
Mclaren...well...by watching drivers declarations...and by running behind them cars...you clearly see they have aerodynamic problems..

Question - they were 1.7s behind Button's time in Jerez...what do you say ?

RB - It's a lot of time ! But we never know...I don't know..they may surprise everyone with something new in Melbourne...but in my opnion they have problems and they will carry it for half of year, at least...I think they will..

Question - Is there any possibilty that Mclaren have already reached a satisfatory level and they are only trying a B plan ? or improving some points ?

RB-I wouldn't bet....I think that's only speculation...it's not "F1's face". It's fact we saw the firsts Mclaren's tests better than the last ones...But I think that it means others improvement instead Mclaren becoming worse.

Cheers for the post - Rubens is adding more weight to the consensus that it's gonna be Brawn, Ferrari, Toyota, BMW (and Alonso) up there...

All the speculation has actually now gotten to a point where it's starting to kill me, Melbourne can't come soon enough!!!!!

Unless these rumours about the diffuser being illegal are true. :(

I can't wait for Melbourne, either.
#95311
Doesn't sound like the diffuser has been ruled illegal to me. Worst case likely scenario imo is that they have complaints after Melbourne and an investigation rules the diffusers illegal after the race. This would not disqualify Brawn from the Melbourne result but would necessitate a redesign for the rest of the season. Kind of like Ferrari and BMW with their flexible floors in 2007
#95331
That was nice honest talk from Rubens :)
Apparently Mclaren do have problems or still have some parts not yet fully developed... and Brawn was running lighter than the rest.

But still there is at least 3-4 teams with possibilities, being conservative maybe the order is Ferrari, BMW, Brawn, Toyota, Renault, Red Bull, Williams... so if the slicks and new aero do allow some overtaking then the season looks promising. I just hope theres not too many nose-breaks on turn 1! and that whatever the controversy with the diffusers is settled soon.

Yeh i reckon that's about right. I quite like that order too in terms of who I'd like to see doing well (realistically speaking, i'd of course like to see McLaren up there too but it aint gonna happen just yet)
#95364
I imagine they are just covering all the angles. What Barrichello says amongst other things I've heard suggests Ferrari are on top but only just but they would like it if the other teams were a little further away
#95365
well just by looking at long runs and race sims Brawn were ahead of Ferrari they did impressively consistent lap times that were faster than anyone else on long stints. Besides going on the long runs i would put BMWSauber ahead of Ferrari.

I think Rubens is trying to be modest and take some pressure of Brawns first Race.

yeh that could be a good shout...

BMW looked like they could be pace setters early on, i would put them on an equal sort of level with Ferrari but if Kimis on it, Ferrari will have the edge in the races imo.

Kubica could be worth a go at the betting office for the title this year, not hearing too much noise about him...
#95370
Ferrari and some of the other teams were talking about the rear for some time before Brawn posted the blistering times. So i dont think the issue is only a response to Brawn...

And the reason its more or less accurate to not place Brawn right on top is because there is still some uncertainty with their test conditions, and they NEED the buzz. Of course, they have a Merc engine so that obviously puts them in a solid position, but too many variables behind those times...

Thanks man =D

Second Video :

Question : why did you get #19 and Button #18 if you got more points in 2008 ?

RB :Actually..well....I asked Ross..and he said it was his carelessness,he just forgot...since the`ve already confirmed Button in the team theoretically so the first registration was like that. But the numerology says that 19 is stronger than 18.

Question : Now the great question, the question everbody is doing , but I think it`s already explained, who thought about bluff during test, started to think again carefully, and there 2 opinions that we should pay atention...the twice champion Alonso, and Felipe Massa...both said that any car that ran with Brawn`s cars on that circumstances, if they put their gasoline almost 0, they hadn`t reached Brawn times.but the great question:
Does exist the possibility of Brawn`s bluff ? In Melbourne everything becomes different ?

RB : I would be extremely ashamed in doing the times that I did, come to your program, say everything I said...and in Melbourne the car starts on #10 because it was bluff.
Actually, I`m a "down to earth" person(I don`t know if you British will understand this expression) ... I person who believes in you untill you prove the contrary...but I needed to make sure if the car was lighter than allowed because the times were really good !
So there`s no bluff possibility.
But there are some circuits that some car fits better than others..We`ve already seen some cars that were really good on tests and weren`t good in Melbourne..I can say that I can see my team between the first 6 for the frst 4 races, at least.because there aren`t many ways to copy or improve the car for the first 4 races...and since we have an essentially good car I belive the first 4 races are the most important for us.

Q : There`s something that is sure. The expectation created around this season is enormous...
the audience of sportv will be huge friday...

(then they start to say about Melbourne`s schedule)

and rubens starts saying:

- The first qualify we run with full tank, dirty track, testing tires..and there are guys using good tires, "empty tank"...so it`s meaningless..If I werent running I would be on my room watching the 3 hours because I think it`s amazing..It`s very "open-battle" you can see cars that don`t apeear the rest of the weekend, so you can make a different analysis..I think it`s really interesting..but it`s meaningless friday for the rest of the weekend.

Q : But it will be some kinda "historical" friday because it means the beginning of an entirely new F1..and a new Barrichello as well ?

RB: Ah yes...For sure..I said that on my first post on my blog this year. I thanked my fans, my family, my friends, and this year I have the oportunity to do everthing I`ve always wanted to do but I didn`t because I was asked by the team to be careful with the words, and I can be myself in the track and out the track. And this year I want to go ready to run with all I got. I want to run my best driving.

Yes, that expression is very common.

I know that there are other people who are not from UK.
But I think the majority is british, isn`t it ?
