I`ll try to translate loyally a interview that Bruno Senna gave today.

" - For Sure it will be a great challenge.Over the last last years no driver started in the championship with that few tested kilometers (testing the car).I`ll run between 1000 and 1200 Km before the first race. But it`s better start in this way, a hard way, than be out of the Starting Grid.Since my first appearance won`t be for a strong team, the pressure will be smaller " Said Bruno Senna in a press conference to the italian magazine "Autosprint".

My opinion: I don`t think it`s a good idea starting in F1 in that way, without tests and with other problems that the lack of money will bring up.
Let`s suppose that he has a bad start, i think everybody is going to say that he is a awful driver and is in F1 just because the surname(and is that what i believe).
I have no idea about Senna`s driving, but I would bet he is in F1 just because the surname.
And a bad start in F1 will "confirm" that theory for lots of people.

What do you think ?

Whilst I think Bruno Senna has the required levels of talent, I'm not so certain about his experience. I think another year in GP2 would not have been a bad idea.

I completely agree!

But I was talking to a friend of mine and he disagreed with me, he showed me the other side of the coin.
He said that there`s nothing to lose for Senna:
If he doesn`t do ok = he just got some issues with the car.
if he does fine = He`s a "Genius"

humm...it makes sense..but i`ll wouldnt consider the second possibility

He faces similar expectations as Nico Rosberg and Piquet JR and even though he is not Ayrtons son in some ways he faces higher expectations than those two. Will he get a ride for 09 though? talking testing is one thing but if Honda doesnt find a buyer he maybe staying in GP2!

he's ruled out gp2 so its honda or bust.

also gp2 asia has started.

if his surname was any other then yes, he would be digging his own grave. As it is he has nothing to lose & everything to gain. He'll be in a top flight team inside 2 years in any case, the marketing potential is too big to stop that.

Actually, most of the main GP2 drivers didn't bother with the Asia series. The asia series is pushing for more foreign drivers, so main lot weren't as welcome this year. Still, Hulkenburg crashed the party and within 2 races, the guys proved he's the one to watch.

As for Senna. The way he's talking, is as if he knows something we don't. Is Honda safe, has he been offered a drive. Either way, hes a proven quick learner, I wouldn't worry too much about the guy. The new cars and limited testing this year also mean that everyone is low on experience. Look at Force India and STR. Their new cars will have the bare minimal of running before the season starts. There really should be no problem for the guy.

I'm not expecting Bruno to start pole position after pole position by over a second from the next quickest driver. He's potentially going to be in a worse car than his late uncle's Toleman from 1984. The best way we can judge Bruno is how he'll fare against Button. If he can go faster than Piquet as well that will hopefully cement his future in F1.

I don't think Honda or whatever will be in next/this season, so I don't see him having a drive.

other than his name, why would this guy be in F1?

Because he could have won the GP2 title hadn't the picky stewards, stray dogs and pit-crew fluff-ups intervened.

There have been far worse F1 drivers who got there because of their name, namely Ralf and Piquet. And remember what Ayrton said about Bruno; "If you think I'm good, wait until you see my nephew."

Well, similar things get said about a number of youngsters and you never see them again. They key thing, for me, about Bruno Senna is that he's moved up the racing ladder fairly quickly and reasonably convincingly, which is pretty remarkable given he was banned from racing for years. With a little more experience behind him, I do believe he would be Formula One material.

Bruno Senna should be intelligent enough to get into F1 at least 1 yr as a primary tester. Why the desperation?

With 1 yr of testing he could get rid of false expectations and the 'fear' of jumping to F1. He can learn plus prove his name, rather than jumping into a dubious team that everyone will expect him to catapult...

Yeaah thats the factor for me.
His speed of progress in incredible so should be able to cope and adapt well to F1.

What about Kazuki Nakajima. I just remember itv always going on that he was the son of an f1 driver. But wikipedia has led me to believe that Satoru Nakajima was s*** :hehe:
